What's up everyone. I'm getting some dubia roaches tomorrow, an have a small hisser colony going. Just wondering if any of you kind folks have time to post your different set ups, I have hissers in a tank an thinking Rubbermaid for dubia. I have a plastic shelving thing (the four shelf hard plastic) I was thinking of putting flexwat on so that both colony's get some heat. Idk just starting so getting all the kinks ironed out. So what do you all have?

I have my dubia in a Rubbermade tub. I heat with an 8" long strip of 3" FW. Paper towel tubs for hides and I feed/water with roach block that I make. They breed and grow like crazy for me

Every 3-4 months the bottom breeding tub gets sorted. All the babies go to the top and each tub moves down one slot.

This gives me a breeding tub and 3 sorted sizes.

My t-stat is set to around 98, the bottom of the tub is about 95ish a small gradient to the top so they can self regulate some.

I give them a very mixed diet. Throw in some fresh produce when I have it.

So far I'm really happy with this set up and works well for my needs.

Skulls are those just those close organizer drawers? They don't climb out the top?

The tops are open, just pull out tubs. They can't climb smooth plastic.

Yeah I can't wait until they get there. I'll be tracking them all morning! Hope they are safe.

There was a male on its back the other night. He might have worked some magic. More likely he dropped when I was sorting.

The males are capable of flutter flight. Usually they cant go more then 12" or so but if you get them hot enough they can do a good 3-6ft from the ground. I found this out the hard way by leaving the top off because everyone says they cant fly. Next thing I know I've got one flying around my ceiling fan light. They sound like a small bird in flight :rolleye2:. Doesn't really matter though because the females cant fly or climb so there is really no way of them infesting a home but it is still kinda creepy.

Ha it's the truth :( their cool when I know where they are and what they are doing and if they are planing any sneaky stuff to touch me. I lived in a real terrible house for almost a year rented a bed room on top floor, the first floor and basement were infested with roaches I taped all my vents closed and would tape up every crack in the room and on my door every night. It was a terrible place and I didn't want any roaches in my room. O I kept the tv and a bed side light on

OMG that's totally jeeby.....:bolt: I luv all kinds of critters.... but theres just something about roaches that seriously creeps me out. When I lived in Philly I had a HUGE one jump off the wall, fly and land on my shoulder. I just could never imagine living with them. If I ever order a T from 3skulls, Ill be PASSING on the free dubias lol....
