Has anybody paired some corns up?
I decided to pair my normal with my amel motley. He doesn't have any known hets, but with how common amel is, I'm expecting some amels at least. I paired them up on the 19th of march, so she has about 3 weeks before she lays. That is, if that pairing was succesful. They've had 4 or 5 succesful pairings since then. She is getting chubby in her back half, but I might just be seeing things. It's really exciting!

So has anybody else had some cool pairings? Or even have babies already? (I know I was pretty late in the season)

I'm actually taking the season off from corns and letting my pieds get bigger for next season. The hets in corns are crazy though and you never know who carries what. Most normals have something in them. It's just a matter of figuring out what. Good luck!

My oldest/biggest female still isn't big enough! She's about 18 months old and 250ish grams. I'm going to be pairing her (A bloodred het Hypo/Lavender/Motley PH amel and caramel) to her future boyfriend (Hypo Lavender PH Motley) to start off my hypo lavender bloodred project. If my male isn't ready (he's my smallest and youngest) then I will pair her to my anery motley Het amel male to see if I can't prove out her het amel. I also have a snow motley female who's about 175g or so and she'll be paired with the anery motley whens he's big enough. I also have a Miami girl that I'm looking into purchasing a REALLY nice Miami boy for.

Here are my babies so far.

All babies are 100% het. Caramel, Bloodred, and Motley

I have 3 more clutches in the incubator right now that are due to hatch sometime in May!

Oh and here's one to show how little these worms truly are. Also I have basically the smallest hands in the world so take that into account :P

Aw, baby corns are so little! I hope I end up with at least 13 in this clutch.. By my calculations, they are supposed to hatch somewhere around july 15. Can't wait!

Andrew, when was your clutch laid?

That can't be right because they only take around 60 days to hatch!

His girl hasn't laid yet. He thinks she'll drop her eggs in about 3 weeks.

Hopefully one of the pairings took. If she has been receptive, (like 6/8 pairnings had evidence, and I've witnessed a couple locks) does that mean that I didn't miss the ovlation? That's my biggest concern. It's been 26 days from the first succesful pairing, and I'm not really seeing significant sweling yet.. Should it be obvious by now? I'm not good at feeling for the eggs either..

They don't ovulate in the sense that BP's do really. There won't be massive swelling and some girls done even appear gravid. My big normal girl's only sign was she'd refuse her meal the week she'd lay. As soon as she refused, I'd put her lay box in. Never failed.

I haven't paired any corns. I have two males I'm growing up to breed to my snow. One is her son, an amel het axanthic. The other is a ghost stripe. The amel male is about 200g and the ghost is about 170g. So they have a little bit to go before I'll consider breeding them. I also have two females growing up, a snow and an anery het amel (both are the snow's daughters). I was hoping to get another male or two at the next show I go to so I can get some new genes into my collection.

As far as normals carrying genes, I got one heck of a surprise when I bred a normal male I bought at a local reptile shop (sold as a Hypo but he was just a very light normal) to my snow female. I figured I would get normals het for snow and the first baby that popped its head out of an egg was a snow! The father ended up being het for snow.

Sweet! That's some luck! I'd be extremely happy if I actually got some amel motleys. If there is any morph that pops out I'm gonna keep it. I've got everything ready, just waiting on some eggs!!
