Baby fire I shipped is lost, what do I do!
It's my worst nightmare. The baby fire I send to Andrew last night is now lost in transit. He's been on the phone with them for hours, with no results. I am just sick. Someone please tell me what to do. Tell me something like this has happened before and everything was fine. Tell me I'm going to survive this. OH please, someone tell me what to do, I can't stand the thought of something happening to her.

Taking a deep breath and accepting the fact that there's nothing you can really do right now would be an excellent start.
And have some faith in your packing job. She'll be fine. :gj:

Did you ship FedEx? This happened to me once with FedEx. The label got torn off the box. They have a place where they send undeliverable packages, I think it's in Indianapolis. If you describe the box they might be able to find it. That's what happened with me.
-
I've had a snake lost in transit once before, and after worrying for 24 hours mainly due to the extreme temperatures it was facing, everything ended up being just fine. Snakes are sturdy creatures, as long as you packed the fire well, rely on your packing, trust fedex to pick up the slack in finding the package, and see what happens. It's not a common instance to run into, but its not unheard of by anymeans. These things happen, just hang in there!

I hate to see this.
I'm hoping they find it and get it there safe. We need small GPS tags for shipping.

It has been a stressful day! They called me back and said they have found the package. They said it should be here by 10 am tomorrow. Trust me I was PISSED and they knew it too. I did whatever I could to try to get them to push it through today (trying to keep an optimistic attitude) but they insisted it would not reach its destination today. All we can do now is wait and see what tomorrow brings and just keep a positive mindset. I will keep everybody posted on the matter.

Oh man, I really hope she makes it there ok for you!!!! Please do keep us posted!
-
Praying she's just fine for ya. What a nightmare.
-
Just think of some of the horrid conditions we have seen snakes live in day after day and still survive, I'm sure she will be just fine tucked away in her cozy box. :)
-
I had two delayed packages this winter. Both were stuck in Indy and were delivered the following day. Both snakes were totally fine and the 40hr heat packs were still warm when delivered. I hope that makes you both sleep a little better tonight.

Gale/Andrew,
I'm glad to hear he's been located and will hopefully be delivered safely tomorrow. Quick question - did you use SYR for the shipment? If so - if this happens again, be sure to engage them as well, as they will work hard to help you locate a lost shipment as well.

Very true, Andy was very helpful in both of my cases.
-
I did indeed use SYR. If Andrew had not called me and told me they found her, I was going to contact Robyn next. I am doing my best to be confident she'll arrive tomorrow cranky but fine. It's going to be a long night.

Thanks for the concern everybody! I am sure she will be ok. Shes got some size to her too so maybe that will help and the temps in Indiana are looking pretty good so that helps me keep a calm mind. I am still a little stressed but confident that she will arrive just fine.
-
Oh no! Well I'm glad they were able to locate the box! Let us know when she arrives!

I am sure she will be fine, she will pop out wondering why you took her out of her nice cozy hide box.

That's an awful feeling, I know. I live about 20 mins. from the FedEx hub in Indianapolis and am off tomorrow and Thursday. I'll PM you my information (cell phone, etc.) if something comes up and they need her picked up immediately. I work in law enforcement and while I realize that doesn't carry the guarantee it should, I would be more than willing to help if I'm able to and this isn't an attempted to intercept or steal a snake from someone. I'll include my Department info for you to contact them if things get to that point and she needs picked up. Not sure how kosher that is for FedEx or whether or not they'd approve that but I'd be happy to get her from the hub and re-packed if a new heat pack was needed prior to sending her on her way. Thankfully the temps have been mild this week in Indiana and the weather isn't bad at all. Keep us posted and hang in there! Sickening feeling but the one time one of mine was "lost in transit" it was only a delay of about a day or so before he arrived safe and sound...and in a rather pissy mood, to be honest, lol! Take care and good luck!

Hope everything works out for her that would be such a horrible thing to let a snake die from shipping.. Hope she is fine and gets to her new owner ASAP good luck getting her to her new home
-
Please keep us updated! If I remember correctly, this is one smoking hot fire and she needs to have a home with you Andy!

Re: Baby fire I shipped is lost, what do I do!
Did she make it to Seatac yet???
-
Well folks she has arrived safe and sound! Gale did an excellent job packaging her and she was nice and toasty warm when I pulled her out. I will try to get pics up but I am having trouble finding the memory card for my camera. She is GORGEOUS!!!! Gale's fires everybody! They are HOT! :gj: Thank you Gale!

Just goes to show you the importance of making sure the snake is properly boxed up just in case something like this happans.:gj:

Happy resolution! This is why it is important to use the proper packing stuffs. Well done Gale and congrats Andrew!

Animals in the mail is always stressful. Very glad this had a happy ending.
Congrats on the new Fire!!
-
Great news to hear.
I agree with those above, it illustrates how important proper packaging is. Delays can happen. If shipped within the SYR guidelines, including packaging and weather guidelines, the animal should be just fine with a day delay. They are very resilient animals, which makes the whole shipping experience possible.
Parts of the country were THUMPED by a snowstorm in the last two days, which has caused delays across the nation (due to regional hub delays). Again it is great to see the animal arrived safe and sound : )

Glad to hear she made it safe and sound!
