Pet Store Chain
I went to the pet store I usually do to grab my feeders. My girlfriend decided to come with me to look for a few things for her hamster. Not finding what she was looking for at that pet store (usually has really knowledgeable people, one of them even breeds leo's), we decided to go to another chain: PetSmart (we live in Canada).
This PetSmart usually has live reptiles: beardies, anoles, leo's, corns, balls and the like. Well today we were perusing the reptile area and they had a boa. A quick glance at the husbandry showed they knew a few things about boa care, but when the employee pulled the boa out of the enclosure which was obviously an anery by the absence of red pigment, I asked where the snake was from, as in locality. Her response 'You mean like the breeder?'
Uninformed employees are just one more reason I would never buy a reptile from a chain store. At least the animal looked to be in good health.

Well, unless you specified you wanted the local, I'd assume you meant the breeder as well.

What was the point in this post? You should have been more specific to the employee just because she did not know what you had ment don't come here to rant when it sounds like it was on you.

...well alrighty then :confusd:

Sorry, guess I need to clarify: what I asked was where the breed originated from. Sorry for the rant.

It's funny that you made this post critisizing that employee, when you actually sound pretty ignorant yourself...
It's possible they carried an anery, just very unlikely. I'm guessing it just was dark and the pigment wasn't bright and easily seen. It is even more unlikely that they would have a locality (hog island, suriname, guyana, etc). I can almost guarantee you it was a normal columbian.
It's just silly of you to make this post about how you know so much more than they do
-
..Yeah. Can I just point out the the proper terms are "species" and "sub-species"?

Already apologized. I realized I came off a bit pompous.
I did not join the forum to be lectured or belittled. And really, are the opinions of complete internet strangers supposed to upset me?
Moderator, please delete this thread.

I don't think anyone was trying to belittle you. Just take criticism in stride, listen to people opinions, and decide if you agree with what they say or not.

You sure didnt mind criticism or belittling when it came to a person at a store who didnt know you were asking, when you were the one who probably asked the question completely wrong in the first place.. but oh Lordy Lordy people give you a little back and you want the thread deleted
