    Your Reptile Show Requests
What would you like to see at the next reptile show? What would make the show better? What would you like to never ever see again?
I'd like to see more kid-friendly booths and activities - things like reptile coloring books and markers, kid-sized baseball caps with cool reptile decorations, "make your own beaded bracelet", or "stencil the cobra or whatever on the paper plate". Anything at all would be an improvement. I see tons of kids at every show who can only "look-don't-touch."
I'd like to never ever again see any live animal door prizes, where the lucky winner gets something like a baby bearded dragon. The loser, of course, is the baby beardie, who may not survive in its new home with such an unprepared owner.
What about you - what would you like to see added to the next show you attend? What would you like to see changed?

I have to disagree with you. I would NOT like to see coloring books and other kid stuff. I hate kids. I go to expos for reptiles. If I wanted to see coloring books id go to a daycare or something. I LOATHE the fact that there's always that one booth at the White Plains expo thats just selling toys. This is a reptile expo, get that crap outta here!

I've taken my siblings (6 and 10 now) to reptile expos and they loved it. They go to see the critters. Why would they wanna color when they could do that at home lol?

    Cool thread.....

I'd like to see more educational booths too. Not just for kids, but some designed for adults too. As far as animals, I'd like to see more rare colubrids - specifically drymarchon and hognose (not that either of those are "rare," just that they are more rare at shows - at least around here).

I would like to never again see the puppies and kittens that are piled into crates and lugged along to a reptile show. The reptiles are in great shape (mostly), but puppies and kittens should never be for sale at an expo. Talk about impulse purchases and an unprepared owner......

One additional thing I'd like to see changed at the expo I usually go to, is wider aisles. While I'm glad to see them busy, it's nearly impossible to move around. And the thing is, they have the room to expand. The expo is in a trade center so all they'd have to do is move the fence which creates one "wall" over by, say, 50 ft and it would allow the aisles to open up a lot more. Makes me a bit mad that they don't do that - the trade center isn't using the space, so why the heck not???

Oh, come on - how can you hate the little kids? They're so excited to be there, and so cute - but almost every booth has nothing for them. I just think it's a huge missed opportunity. I've often wondered why I've never seen so much as a facepainting booth - it's such a big hit (and lucrative) at every other show or festival.

i think there should be more kid friendly stuff because they always want to hold them like a few berms or a Tegu and They always tell them no but i do hate it when people are there and just selling toys and once there was a wrestler there doing autographs for some reason.

    I just hate kids.
My siblings LOVED the expo. My brothers more into them so he talks to vendors and stuff but even my sister liked looking at the animals. Its just not the right place for what you're talking about imo. Maybe if there was like a separate room full of coloring books that we could lock all the kids in, then that'd be useful.

I'm not a fan of little kids at all either, which is why I'm all for stuff that'll keep them from having temper tantrums out of boredom. I figure their parents are probably gonna bring them one way or another...if they can corral them somewhere, I'm totally cool with that! I don't mind the slightly older kids who can appreciate it more.

...And for the record, I like the toys at White Plains :( I still like my stuffed animals even at going-on-26, lol.

Im not hating on toys. But if you want stuffed animals, go to build a bear. Its like buying a hooker just to talk about your feelings.

I can understand a Kids Corner type thing, out of the way of the actual booths. If I'm about to spend a couple hundred dollars or more, I want to be able to think and speak to the vendor without the sound of a wailing child in my ear. I would definitely not appreciate having kid booths integrated directly into the aisles.

What I would appreciate though is more ice cream and leo morphs.

Kids are just little people and who likes people? :p

I would like to see more racks and cages. We never get any of the big names like AP.
The shows around here are smaller shows.

For the breeders. Put a banner up, with your name!! If nothing else, the person running the expo should have vendor tags made up.

    More care sheets!!

Better deals on dry goods. No reason to pay at the door to save a $1 on ReptiBark.

I never want to see people bringing in animals. Don't really want to see a snake around someone's neck.

I don't want to see snakes with stuck shed.

If I think of more, I'll be back :p

I agree with the wider isles. and if they can't widen them then move the shows to bigger locations.

    Re: Your Reptile Show Requests
I would like to see more variety of animals. Reptiles not kittens and flying squirrels unless they are feeders. And no I don't believe in feeding kittens to a snake! Im just saying if its not reptile related it shouldn't be at a REPTILE expo! I love kids but I have to agree they don't need a table to do arts and crafts. Go to a craft fair if you want to color or make bracelets with your kids. I totally agree with the wider asiles. I get tired of shot nose kids and teenie boppers pushing through the crowd without so much as an excuse me. I don't mind someone brushing by me but I've had kids literally push me out of the way it annoys the crap out of me. The shows around here have stopped giving live door prizes and now offer show bucks instead. Everyone has made good suggestions and I can't think of anything really valid to add so I guess ill stop rambling lol.

More boas an stuff that we can hold!
And vendors, really try HARD to have your snakes presentable! If a snake had a bad shed on the way there, keep it under the table. If someone wants that morph or whatever, you can show it to them. I may seem picky, but it's really noticeable if there's a not-so-attractive snake there.
It distracts people, and they don't want to look at it.

I agree with Kali!!! More hognoses need to be made so their price comes down a little bit so I can get the morphs I want!!! :D
