    Help!!!
My ball python went up into my steering wheel section of my car. I saw him and then he moved and now I can no longer see him. I called an auto place and they said they couldn't help me because all there staff were scared of snakes. They said though that he couldn't be harmed up there but I need to get him out ASAP! Any suggestions?

Go to a mexican stereo place, theyll tear the car apart and get it out lol why would you let the snake loose in the car..?

Or you could get online and look up how to dismantle you steering column and figure it out yourself.. its not hard

Where are you located? Roughnecking now but usually a mechanic by trade! I can assist if you're in Texas.

Im up around PK, soonest I could head into town would be around Friday or Saturday. (broke :P) But Id be more than willing to help then. Also what kind of vehicle is it and can you post pictures of your dash and steering column? Perhaps I can explain it to you over the phone? Theres another user Iv been messaging named Tannertx that lives in Stephenville, drop by my thread and give him a message, could be able to help sooner if needed and willing.

Also it may be pricey, but try giving your manufacturer dealership a call. They usually are more willing to help with more personal problems with vehicles than service centers.

It's an 05 Mitsubishi galant. I have the bottom portion popped open a bit and they guy at the car place said that I was looking at around 6 hours of work to get up in there but I'm afraid he will die in there. I put a small opened shoe box with the bedding in his cage and his favorite hide in it so I'm hoping he will be in there when the car cools off. The woman at petsmart didn't make it seem like it was such a big deal and she said that he would come out eventually but it gets hot in Texas and I'm afraid of that happening.

Depending on the vehicle all you may need is a small flat screw driver to pry open clips and snaps without breaking them.

It it actually up in the mechanical portions of the steering column past the wheel or just in the lower dash cover? 6 hours sounds like total bull:cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: and a way of making you pay for the hassle of dealing with a snake.

Im going to google some things about your vehicle and get a better clue, not really familiar with a lot of imports. More of a domestic man lol

Try adding heat source and water to the box if you can (power inverter and a heat rock?) Luckily temps are cool, but that may be more worrisome. Id only run it off your cars battery or maybe a relatives if willing. I wouldnt start your car due to the heat and vibration.

Take a peak, if youre comfortable doing it yourself this guys pretty detailed. Not sure if the year models similar but it may help.

Ill definitely be using it as a primer if youre unable to get it by then.

He was just chillin on the portion where it shows how fast your going and stuff. And then the next thing I know he's crawling into the side of the steering wheel and I grabbed him and I pulled a bit but he wasn't budging and eventually he got out of my hands. I looked up in there and it looked as though he was right under where he was previously at before the incident and I think he went up further into the top of my dashboard.

I went down there and ran into a guy who was able to take out my stereo part and we found him moving around up there but he's still being stubborn and I tried to get him down with a rat and he would come down a bit then go back up and after doing that several times I just left his house down there and hopefully he'll be in it in the morning.

Alright, I had to find a corn this way, you need a thawed mouse, and a box from pecto (that the mice come in) place uth under the box with a light amount of substrate in it. Use tape to seal the boxes exits. Bam. Come morning you'll have a snake in a box.

First thing that came to mind was a certain SNL skit titled 'd--k in a box'.

Step 1: cut a hole in a box..

Good luck getting your pet out of the dash of your car!

    Don
This happened to me with a $3,000 snake once (back when Pieds went for that much). My wife had put them in bags to bring to a school for a demonstration and when I met her at the school, I asked where the snake was. She said she was certain it was packed. I looked through the class room (discretely to not alarm anyone) and in the car. When I got home, looked all around the room, thinking maybe it could have slipped out when she was packing. Couldn't find it anywhere. I was pretty upset that it went missing. 28 days later, my wife was driving down the road, cranked up the radio and the snake fell down on her feet. This was in February!

I would recommend getting a tub like container and cutting a hole in the top. Have bedding and a hide in the tub. If you can rig it, heat the tub up to 90 degrees and place a f/t rat into the tub. Let it sit over night on the driver's side floor. I don't think tearing the car apart is going to get you to the snake as it will just bury itself deeper into the dash or you may hurt or crush it when you are removing parts.
