Do you ever simply just miss your snake?
Let's just say you're out for the day, or away for the weekend, sometimes don't you just miss your snake? Whether you have just 1 or more than 1, I think we can all agree that we love our snakes and care for them enough to miss them!

whenever i go on trips or something i always miss my python, his name is django and he is one of my favorite pets EVER

I do miss them.
I miss my Boo the most though. He passed away in my arms on February 25th. I think my howl of pain woke the whole house up. I couldn't put his body in a box for awhile. I just sat there crying, holding him. It's strange how these creatures can wiggle their way into our hearts so easily.
I got him cremated and wear a bit of his ashes around my neck. I've never taken him off yet

Heck, even when she's at the height of her handbleness and has past shed and digested, I don't feel like taking her out.
It's when she's in shed, or just ate, I feel like looking at her the most.
:( Sorry Bobba. That must've been hard.

Re: Do you ever simply just miss your snake?
Do I ever...I was on Spring Break a couple weeks ago and I asked my upstairs neighbor to check on her every so often to make sure she was doing alright and hadn't escaped from her enclosure. The whole week I thought about the little girl every day and wondered how she was doing. Even while being in the sunny, beautiful weather in Florida, I couldn't wait to get back home so I could be with her. I'm such a sap... :P but I can't help it.

I miss my snake when i go on trips and also when he is in shed lol :)

No not really. They certainly don't miss me. I'd be bummed if I had to give them up bc they're my critters, but ball pythons don't even compare to a dog imo. My dog is capable of missing me, therefore i'd miss her back. Snakes, no, not really lol. I think about them during the day a lot, but not because i miss them.

I constantly miss my snakes! They are just as important to me as my cat and pet rats are. I check on them all at least once a day. Of course I have a certain few that I baby more than others, but I'm only human :)

When I'm at work reading threads and seeing all your sexy snakes, I can't wait to get home and check temps, check waters, and pull a few out to say hi!

Same here! When I'm at work or the library, all I want to do is run home and make sure they are all comfortable :D
I miss them. They all ate last night and I wish I could take out Tiffany or Minnie right now and just hang out for a few minutes!! :'(

X2
I do enjoy cleaning them out, feeding them, and doing photoshoots though, but I don't miss them when I'm out and about. I must say though when I crack open a tub and someone comes right out to say "hi" it makes me a little warm and fuzzy on the inside...lol

Yes and no.
I think I'm mostly in the same boat as Mike41793 and Daybreaker but at the same time I do kind get super down when I don't get to see them for long periods of time. I will usually find myself thinking a lot about really boring snake things regarding my oldest one though. Like, I'll just be sitting around and wonder if she's sleeping or wandering her tub or bowl wrapping, like just like the really boring things that snakes do day to day. I don't know, it's hard for me to not get emotionally attached to any animal that's been a part of my life for over a decade.
But yeah, the snakes probably don't feel that same sort of kinship towards me at all.

I just like my snakes. I like playing snake treadmill, or being a warm spot, or simply knowing they're in their vivs and I can get them out and stare at them like the living works of art that they are unless they've just eaten or are in shed.
And of course, all four of them go into shed one right after the other. It's insane. We'll have nearly 5 weeks straight of someone being in blue, and maybe 3 weeks off. If we're lucky. Silly snakes.

Re: Do you ever simply just miss your snake?
I def do. :) When I first got a snake I just thought it would be a cool pet to have, but now I can honestly so that I am addicted and love him. Some people think I am nuts but I think he is adorable and he does funny things, and I love to just sit and watch him or hold him. I get as much pleasure from that snake as I do my dog lol. Tomorrow is feeding day and I am sad I won't get to hang wit him for a while. :(

:banana:we had to give our up 3 years ago and it broke my heart, I loved those dang things, I am sorry to admit it, i left this site and all my other forums til i had a chance to get them back, which will be soon:banana:

That's exactly what I do! I check the forum like 24/7 (tapatalk also makes it 100% more easy) and see all the threads and pictures of snakes, it makes me just want to go home and se my little guy. :D

Yep. When we went out of town for a month (I had a friend who took care of my BPs so they were not abandoned), I missed them very much. Now, I'm leaving again next month but my GF will be taking care of them. It's gonna be hard.

Re: Do you ever simply just miss your snake?
Like Mike41793 and Daybreaker, I don't miss my snakes the way I miss my dog or chinchillas, but I do think about them often. When I'm working with other snakes at the store or at the breeding center, or interacting with store snakes to show people, I often miss my biggest, old adult female. I've had her so long and done so many presentations with her that we both know what to expect and are comfortable with what'll happen and any surprises that come up. But just miss them and worry about them? I know I've got them set up well, and they just need to be checked on and maintained if I am not around. They're happiest if I'm not messing with them. :)

I don't miss them in the same capacity that I miss my dogs or my sons when I'm gone, but when I go away for extended periods (like my recent "trip" to Afghanistan) I am always super excited and anxious about getting home and getting to feed them and pair them up!

Re: Do you ever simply just miss your snake?
I always miss my snake. Waiting two days after she's eaten is hard enough for me! As soon as I wake up, I check on her. Not my dog who is laying at the foot of my bed, but my snake! When I'm gone, I call my mom and have her check on her! Maybe I'm insane, but I just love my snake. :)
