Congrats! A friend has one of these, and I was surprised by how comfortable the ride was. So, what are your rules for the car - are people allowed to eat in there? Or is that grounds for murder?

I will eat in it but I don't know about other people. Its a very comfortable car. An older couple traded it in so its in excellent condition.

Congrats! I'm obsessed with my xB, I love them. I'm much more a fan of the older body style though, the 2nd gens just aren't as boxy awesome.

Congrats on the new car and a great choice in the Xb!
We've had ours for about 2.5 years and love it!
Plus they have a crap ton of room in them for how small they look from the outside.
With our ARS 7010 in the back and still room for groceries!
We have had a 7 high rat rack in the back more than once and all the 2x4x8's and other supplies to build the rat racks!

I like the 1st gens a bit better and those would probably be more in his proce range. Smaller engines in them too so not as much power. I don't even think ive hit 80 in my new car, i drive like an old man after my tickets/accident a few years ago.

Well thanks for taking me to school! I have a Subaru Forester and had no idea they are owned by Toyota. I kinda inherited it rather than buying it. So then how many conglomerations are there in the auto industry? I would rather hear your wisdom than search the answer out myself :D

Well I don't drive like an old man. I hit 95 the other day with it but it was on a long straight road. Don't drive over 80 much but I will once in a while.

sweet ride my friend has the older model and he loves it. and he no little boy. I prefer my pickup style trucks, with 4wd it makes days like today so profitable when you can ride around and pull people out of the ditches and such cause they don't know how to drive in the snow. I get people looking at me cause I take off real easy until I hit 3rd gear ( to save gas) and then she will pick up faster than most people do. and they always think that large space in front of me is for them to pass but it not I know a trucks takes more room to slow down and to give me room to miss the fool that slide into the next car(I got an entire median to use if needed lol..

I bought a 2011 xb about a year ago, and I am still really happy with the purchase. I was, however, a little surprised at how expensive it was to replace the brakes. Last week, at 45,000 miles, it was $600 for new pads and rotors.

    I was asking this guy.
Seems like a lot pads and rotors cost about $200 and labors only 1.2 hours. About $320 total.

That is what the Toyota dealership quoted me. My wife is a teacher, and one of her students father is an ASE certified mechanic. I ended up spending $270 just for parts, because I have four wheel disc brakes and replaced all rotors and pads with factory suggested parts. I paid $100 dollars for the labor. It was the first time anything had been done to my XB by anyone besides the dealership, but $200 savings is hard to pass up.
