Ferret scent
My girlfriend and i share a modest sized bachelor suite where we keep our lizard and bp
we would both like to add a ferret to the mix but fear that his scent might cause the snake to constantly be aroused, or worse yet; strike at me
would we be able to keep a ferret or two in the same apartment as long as they were never out at the same time as the reptiles?

I have yet to have any problems with several pet rodents in the house.

I used to be really pressed for space and had my rodent rack and snake rack in the same room. It made some act a little different every now and again (usually at or around the day I would normally be feeding them) but for the most part they did not act any different.

Re: Ferret scent
I think I've seen a couple threads about this before - depends on the snake, naturally, and at first you may notice a bit more activity, but with time they'll become accustomed to. Never had an issue with my snakes and the various rodents that have come through my apartment.

Re: Ferret scent
Ferrets do not smell like food (rodent).
I keep ferrets, rats, and snakes in the same room without issue.
No behavior difference in any of them other than the ferrets trolling the rat racks when they're out.

Please ask your physician if your snake is healthy enough for ferret activity.

None of my snakes cared about my ferrets when I had them. When I have live mice or rats in my snake room my only snakes that seem to go nuts are my Carpet pythons. The only time I ever was bitten by any of them was one time when my Male Jungle smelled a rat in the room when I went to change his water. A word of warning about ferrets and other, smaller pets though. Their idea of playing is picking things up with their mouth. My wife forgot to close my birds cage once and found my ferret carrying her around in her mouth, killing the bird. She wasn't going to eat it, just playing.

Re: Ferret scent
My ball python doesn't seem to even notice ferret smell, they clearly don't smell like food. I breed mice in the snake room without any issue either. Make sure cages are very secure, a ferret would injure a snake given the chance and they are very determined. I have one who killed a bird in his previous home and he climbed my iguana cage right off the bat looking for something he could go after.
