    Dunno what happened
So, I just woke up, went to check on the reptiles, I go in, my gravid girls tub was barely open and I'm 150% sure I closed it.....she got out. Thank god I looked over and there she was all stretched out sitting a still as could be climbing the chair. Can they push the tubs out any way at all????

It doesn't really make sense that they can push the tub out. They would have to some how grip the roof and be able to push forward at the same time. And when you don't have arms then its very hard if not impossible to do that. More than likely you slid it most of the way in and assumed it was closed. Either that or another pet or person opened it slightly. Just be more careful and all will be well. Good job finding her!

Mine tries to pop the top from her enclosure every night. It's fairly substantial so that I can hear her moving it. They are escape artists. I'm looking at her right now as she is inspecting the top for vulnerabilities.

Tape or otherwise secure your top. Otherwise any sounds she makes will wake you up in fear that she is escaping.

if its a secure lid. that is buckled on, on each side - i dont see where the problem could of arose.

also, is someone in your house NOT fond of snakes and has made this clear? although i cannot imagine that the person who doesnt like the snake doesnt just take the whole bin outside somewhere n then let your snake go instead of inside the home you live in. then again - reptiles in my experience will go towards heat and burn themselves to death easily on almost any wall in any home. this unfortunately might be common knowledge.

but lets say no one entered, and probably another pet DID NOT do this. you either have a bad lid or did no secure the lid properly.

So to speak it has no lid, its a rack. Also, its just the wife and I, and of course our cats. I keep my snakes in their own, door was shut when I went back there. Maybe my wife did it on accident I dunno, but she loves them almost as much as myself. So the only thing I can think of is she checked her out and left a tiny gap there, as I can tell she squeezed her way through.

Thinking of getting some golf tees and drilling some holes to use them as "a locking mechanism".

If you can drill holes, maybe some screen clips will work, just turn them to lock or unlock:

Lol, I wouldn't have except she admitted she was the last one to open it and look at her.

Yeah, nice that they're cheap too! :)

Normally rack systems wouldn't need it, but it's a pretty easy solution for added security (especially since you have the David Blaine of ball pythons hehe)

Yes my large male can and does slide his tub. He can us the underside of the shelf as leverage. He can move the tub an inch or two. That gives him a gap to get his head out and that is all it takes.

Where I live we are required to have secure housing. I use a pin lock on the rack. I have a 1/8 hole drilled in the shelf. This is in front of the tub and I place a golf tee in the hole.

That's what I use on my racks. I got mine from RBI and they come with little pins in them. Not had an escape yet.
