Proposal Ideas???

Alright, so my girlfriend and I will have been together 4 years this June and I've decided it's time to pop the question. Just need some ideas on how. Lol. I want it to be something original, something no one else has done. I've already bought the ring and sent it off to have it sized and should get it back around the beginning of April. And just for anyone who's curious, it's a 1/2 carat round cut diamond set in a simple 14 carat white gold band. Her favorite place to eat is Olive Garden but I'm lost az to what to do after that. Lol. I live in the Kansas City area so I thought about taking her to the top of the Liberty Memorial but didn't know if it would be too dull. (With all the dead trees and whatnot). Any ideas anyone??? :)

Stuff it in a f/t rat, feed it to a new bp you buy her, and then make her find it in the poop. There's no way she could say no. Oh ya, and do the whole "get down on one knee thing", that'll seal the deal for sure.

LMAO!!!! That'd definately work if I could only get them to eat f/t!!! :D

Have the waiter add your note to her menu, so when she opens it up ... :O :D
If you order wine or champagne, the ring can be tied to the bottle with ribbon.
Maybe not original, but it'll work!

That's a good idea GoFride I never thought to do that. :) I thought about the ring in the glass but I've heard of too many horror stories where that one ends up in the E.R. Lol.

Is she a reptile person? Does she keep any of her own? Because you could buy her a young snake or other reptile and slip it on the critter, then present it to her. There's also a cute commercial where a guy puts the ring on a new kitten's collar. Had a teacher in high school who proposed to his girlfriend by running string all through the house and the yard and as she followed/pulled the string she finally came to a ring tied on the end. I thought that was cute too, and definitely memorable.

Alright Mike, here's one, she's got a couple of pet dumbo rats. I make a collar and put the ring on that and just hope the rat doesn't try to chew it off. Lol. Think that'll work?

I don't trust rats. If they can chew through rebar they'll chew right through gold lol.

Buy a baby sand boa, put the ring on the snake and give it to her in a small critter carrier cage with a note on the side asking for her hand. That's original!

Idk what to do. Lol. These are all really good ideas and I only get to do this once. Thank you everyone for all the great ideas. :)

Go buy a fairly inexpensive piece of jewelry....like a $50 necklace or some crap. Do the Olive Garden thing, act all nervous, make a big deal out of it. She'll be expecting you to propose, women aren't stupid. Give her the diversion piece at dinner, with the whole preemptive "I love you so much, blah, blah, blah" thing. Sure, she'll feel a little stupid for thinking it was the big moment, but she'll get over it when she gets home and finds a rose (fine, Mike, a snake!) on her pillow with the engagement ring. At that point, the expectation will be gone and she'll be truly surprised!

Put it on the rat and then bring the rat to her acting all worried and telling her to "check this thing on the rat". Then get down on one knee when she sees the ring. That way you'll lessen the amount of time the ring is in contact and with the rat and it'll be supervised so it won't have time to chew.

Give her the line "i know weve been together for awhile, i wanna give you something special... 3.Slip her the "little box"(with a pair of cheap cz earrings in it) 4.Play it off, grinning, acting proud(while shes all disappointed inside) 5. When you get home, look in one of your snakes tubs and exclaim " oh jeez,it left a giant present! Honey, can you grab some paper towels and get that for me?" (Shell feel even worse) 6. Beforehand, have that particular snake's tub lined with blank newsprint with "will you marry me" written on it, and the ring in the tub under a hide :D.

I'm totally doing this! Hope I meet my wife at Vet Tech school in the next year or two.

You could also get a new snake shipped to you, telling her you got something real special, and you want her to be there for the unboxing. Slip the ring in there, and retape the box before she sees. Then tell her you think its gonna be so awesome you cant stand it, and youd rather have her open the box instead. Shell think its a snake. Drop on one knee when she opens the box, and then take her out to Olive garden so you can start disussing future wedding ideas.(you know shell want to)

This is what I would do. You GOTTA crush her and get her all deflated before you actually pop the question.

So I know it's been awhile since I've posted here but guess what, I did it! And she said yes!!! I took her to dinner and a movie and acted all nervous the entire time (okay, maybe it wasn't an act) and when we got home I had two dozen roses on the table surrounded by candles and while she was distracted with that I got down on one knee and pulled the ring out and when she turned around I asked her to marry me and she said yes!!! I couldn't be happier. :-)

I'm a bit late for this, but I'd never recommend public proposals. I'd probably dump someone for embarrassing me that badly. :mad: And no mind-games (tricking her, using fake jewelry, etc.). The idea of that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even if it's in good fun.

Thanks everyone. And we're both really happy and can't wait to start our lives together. Now it's planning for both of us and talking to the recruiter for me. We're planning on a military life together. I can't wait. Time is flying by but going so slow at the same time. It almost seems impossible.
