    Nme or no name?
I named by BPs because i consider them my pets but as it turns out i NEVER mention their name. I just say what morph they are.My normal is the only one with a name I use. Do you actually call your snakes by their names or just call them random names?

It depends on the snake. Most of my adults I refer to by their names, but most of the babies I refer to by morph..mainly because some of them aren't named yet lol. I also have nicknames for a few of them.

I use their names... granted some of their names are their morhps... ("Mojo" the mojave, "Cinny" the cinnamon, and now "Honey" the honeybee).

I use all their names, mostly because Ive always gone with the rule, if it gets to the point where i can no longer name them or remember their names its time to stop collecting. But as an art student i made each of them name tags for the front of their tubs with their morph and gender and little doodles and stuff. But some of them do have.. odd.. names.. Troilus and Criseyde.. Yeahhh I like english.. >.>

Every critter I have is named and I use those names. To me, they are more than breeding stock or a collection - they are part of the family. I suppose I'd rethink things a bit if I had a truly large number, but I have no plans to have 100 snakes and/or geckos. My breeding groups are and always will be much smaller. So names are how each one is identified.

Although, on the forums here, I do sometimes refer to the one I'm talking about as "my male Argentine" or something like that, in the long run, I can't imagine not calling them by name. :gj:

My snakes have names but it depends on my mood. If they leave a big poop for me right when I'm about to go to school their name becomes mcpoopface. Except not poop but a different word.

I tried calling them by their names but i end up calling them spider or mojave because nobody else knows their names.

Some have real names, and others end up developing names so I can refer to them (i.e. Big Girl or Ghana Girl). All my non-balls have names, as they are not as plentiful, but generally just refer to them by their species, except for my larger carpet, Rousseau, whom everybody knows or remembers over the others :)

Most of our animals have names but I much more often call the females "girlie, mama, etc".

I find myself using the morph titles as well more often then our names for the snakes.

For our crested geckos I use their names.

For our Uroplatus I usually am either calling them by their name or saying "pied male, giant male, female lineatus, male fimbriatus".

All of mine have names, but if it's something I only have one of sometimes I'll just say "the water dragon" or "the turtle". I find that I use their names more in person, but not on the forums, then I tend to just say what they are.

I call them all by their names in person. Except I also have a severe case of babytalk and call them things like "my sweet beautiful princess" and "my perfect prince"......

I have a baby normal BP that I named Lilith. I usually use her name when talking to friends about her, but when I'm holding her or getting her out of her cage, I call her baby girl. :P

We named our Sampson Slithers and Slinky Slithers, and definitely refer to them by (first) name. For some reason, the names really "fit" them, you know how sometimes you name an animal and its awkward to call them by the name for a while? Never an issue with these two. I baby talk to Sampson a lot too, he just has such a laid back cool disposition that encourages it lol. Slinky... not so much. She always feels like she'd rather be left alone in the cage than held.

I don't give any of my snakes names by choice. My GF either makes me pick something or names them for me lol.

I only named my very first snake (fluffy)

I call all my snakes by their morph, or by their physical attributes. "Bee" or "Lith Blaze" or "Huge normal girl" or "Banded normal girl" etc.
My bud calls them all by their ID tags which is simply numbers and letters.

I actually talk to mine like I do all my other pets. I call her by her name, even know she can't hear me, lol. We've even had full blown conversations (of course one sided)

I don't name them because honestly I look at them and see morphs and not really pets. I don't hold them much, I just take pride in the fact that they are content in their tubs. But if I am telling my mom something about an individual snake I call them all sorts of things cause she doesn't quite remember all the morphs and what they look like. Things like: the big one, the oldest one, the little girl, little retard(Idk why, I just started calling him that), and maybe just their colors. When I am showing my big girl to people I call her fatty.

If I am alone trying to clean I usually call all of them dummies cause they get in the way. Haha! Obviously, I am a very loving snake-keeper!

All of mine have names, and I use their names. Almost all have pet names or nicknames. Although the phrase pet names for a pet is kind of weird. Like my biggest female Akashi, I also call her big momma, or my sweet girl. One of my pet rats, her name is Luna, but I always call her Luna Bear. No idea why, it just came out and it fit so she's Luna Bear. My het pied Toki, I always call her Toki Bear. My saimese mix cat is Jade, but I call him *****foot. And so on......

    Re: Nme or no name?
I name each and every one of my snakes. In fact, its the very first thing i do the moment i get a new snake. It helps me identify with each snake as an idivudual. Together me n my husband have 26 snakes. I name mine based on many factors including temperament, color, size, where it came from, etc, whereas he likes to name all his after anime characters...

I call them by their names. None snakers usually don't get what you mean by saying their genes, unless you go into deep conversation of genetics and refresh them in some high school science.

    Re: Nme or no name?
I name all mine and refer to them by name unless I'm talking to someone who doesn't know who's who or on the forum, then I'll call them by gender and morph. I take forever to name most though.

A lot of mine also have nicknames or shortened versions of their names. And a lot of times females get addressed when I'm messing with them as "mommas," males as "lil guy," or "dude."
