Does this look like a suitable terrarium for an adult ball python?

I have a baby ball python right now, but shes in a 10 gallon tank, so I will need to upgrade eventually. I want to get one that will last her even when shes full grown. Does this look like a good terrarium for a ball python? (I would get the large low 36" x 18" x 12"

That would work fine. Just know that sometimes placing a young snake in such a large tank can create stress. You can fix that by having many hides and other things providing cover to help make the snake feel secure. My ball has been in a 40 gallon tank all its life and has done wonderful.

I'm going to wait until she outgrows the 10 gallon before i buy another, so hopefully it wont be too bad of a change for her. I will be sure to give her extra hides and things in the beginning to make her feel safe. That's a nice cage setup by the way. Also, what gallon is the tank i sent the link to? (36" x 18" x 12")

The same foot print as a 40 gallon just a little shorter.

I have everything covered but a thin strip on the cool side, a plastic window for my fluorescent light, and a 6x6: square for ventilation. Above the ventilation square, I have a 5" wire cage with a 60w ceramic heat emitter 4" from the mesh, and a UTH on a thermostat underneath.

The exo-terras are thinner and flimsier than a standard tank, and let a lot of air in, but the front opening doors are really convenient. There are better cages in a similar price range, but I was lucky to get mine during a winter sale.

for a few dollars more you can get a t8 from animal plastics. you wont regret it!

You donr have to cover the top jist provide a humid hide on the warm side. That should cover the humidity problems that arise with a screen top

What I do with my exoterras is cut a piece of plexiglass the same size as the screen and just lay it over. There is enough of a gap around the edges to allow ventilation through the front vents.

I have 3 smaller exos and the humidity is fine in them using this method. I find the foil treatment to be messy and not really appealing to look at. The plexi still allows for you to have some light get through.

I was going to do plexiglass, but I live in a tiny apartment with no powertools and couldn't find anyone in the area to cut stuff to size for me. :(

I used black tape and it's not too horrible. I'm a big Apartment Therapy enthusiast and I'm a decent MacGyver when it comes to limited resources.

Good news! You don't need any power tools! There is this nifty thing called an acrylic scorer. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1#.UTVGcXzwLKc

Once you make a deep enough groove the piece will just snap off nice and clean!

trust me, I know all about living in a tiny apartment. I get by pretty well with my power drill!

If you are going to spend that much on a cage anyway, why not just get an animal plastics cage? Good luck with what ever you choose.

I actually do something similar with my 10 gallon now! Yours looks 10 times nicer than my little rig job, lol. Thank you, I will definitely try this, maybe even fix up my little 10 gallon! And what other cages would you suggest? Petsmart is the only store in my area where I could actually go and pick it up, but for a reasonable price, I could ship it to my house if i can find a better one.
