The Black light worked on the BEL's
Put a black light on the Super Lesser and absolutely white. Then on my Lesser Mojave and saw the the yellow line going down her back. You can't see anything at all until she's under the black lite. Thank for the idea it worked great.

Re: The Black light worked on the BEL's
The reptile expo in Etobicoke had a BEL that showed a full pattern under black light but was straight white under white light.
I like black.blue eye leucistics and ivories to start with but, that was one (of many) very tempting snakes.
I would be too tempted to set-up a day-glo tie-dyed habitat for that particular snake though.

could be infrared/ ultraviolet filters and coatings. Generally that helps for most normal photos.
Any flash would wash out the blacklight effect also.
If the snake stays still for a bit try a longer exposure on a tripod, you could get a killer photo everyone will think you have to have photoshopped.

im glad my idea worked :) now we want pictures ^^

a normal digital camera wont see the UV, but will see the fluorescence and the patterns in the fluorescence, which is just what we need :D

i hope it works for the offspring as well

While I find it extremely cool that you managed to tell a difference in the two, I'd be worried the some some Super Butters have patterns and that some Lesser/Mojo BEL's don't. Before you make a definitive decision in using the blacklight as a way to tell them apart, I suggest testing several other BEL and see if the same applies there. Either way it's still cool.

It would be the same as a super lesser pattern wise I believe. Untested.

What Im saying is that if you breed Super Lesser/Butter to a Mojo x Lesser/Butter BEL. 50% should be super Butter/Lesser and 50% shoudl be Lesser/Butter x Mojo. That the blacklight might not be a sure way to differentiate the two.
