Feeding Problems
I took your advice and fed my python Pre killed mice.. He ate it with no trouble and seemed to enjoy it. I'm glad frozen mice have 0% no parasites and its good to feed knowing your snake will be safe. My colombian red tail refused his meal so I will wait a few days to feed him again. Thanks Again =]

Mikey, I'm glad to hear the switch went so well for you! That's great news. Your snake thanks you and i thank you. :)
-
Hey Mikey that's awesome dude! Sometimes it is a huge ordeal to make that switch. Good decision to go with f/t you still get to see the same exact response as if it was live so it's not really like there's a huge difference from an owner perspective other than that it costs less, you can store many at one time easliy, there is no risk of injury to your snake, and there are lowered vet bills (due to less possible infection or injury). So there ya go! Congrats and I haven't said this before but always nice to have another Chicagoan here in the forums welcome!

Oh and on a side note, Marla is totally my mentor in this whole herp business - so just a quick line to say Marla, thank you so much for all of the help you've given me and everyone else on this forum - you really are a big reason this community is what it is so thank you for all the help and advice since I first landed here. :)
-
Hey congrats Maniac. Its always great to get em eating f/t. Your redtail is new isn't it? I'd give it at least a week before feeding, so he/she can destress.

Jonah,
Thank YOU for being part of what makes this community what it is, and thanks to everyone from the animal control officer who gave me my first ball python to the folks here, who have given me good advice on or insight into snakey behavior, husbandry, breeding, and other aspects of keeping. I like to share what I've learned in homage to the people and snakes who've taught me, in the hopes that I might help another animal as mine have been helped. The people make the community, but the community also sets the tone for the people, as all the veterans of other forums know. Y'all rock. :)

Marla, you rock!
I've learned so much from you and everyone here. I'm so grateful I found you guys! Don't know what I'd do w/out all the excellent advice. Like I said somewhere here before, I don't bother with any of the other forums since 'landing here' cuz ya'll are the bestest!!.......get used to me guys, cuz I'm not goin' anywhere!! :P
PS: Marla, I'm really glad we got to get to know each other better last night during the chat. I really enjoyed 'talking' to you....and I appreciate being comfortable enough to ask you any questions I may have (especially the technical forum 'how to' questions that I might otherwise feel too stupid to ask anyone else ). THANKS!!!
-
Thanks, Caren. I really enjoyed chatting with you last night as well. Some of these young whippersnappers around here don't know what it was like having to suffer through shag carpeting and polyester. ;)
-
LOL! All I can say is, 'What were they thinking!?'

Marla is the Buddah of this forum -- you do nothing but enlighten us...
-
Heh heh, Buddha is my dog. :) There are a lot of helpful folks here, but some of them just don't have as much time to spend on the computer as I often do.
-
You named your dog well :P
-
Thanks. For a chow, he is very friendly, though I could hardly call him calm.

powerfeeding
I use to have a pitbull when I was younger, we ended up giving him away before he became an adult because he was getting to violent ... broke my <3 =[
-
I'm afraid the pitbulls that I have the most experience with ate my cat and it left me unhappy with the dogs, the owners, and the breed. I am sorry you had to lose your dog, though.
