Nice setup! It looks like it might be a challenge to keep clean, but certainly an enjoyable habitat for a ball. :)

Speaking of pictures of habitats, does anyone else have some they can post, I'd love to get some different ideas. :D

There are a lot in the photo galleries that you can browse through, if there's not an enthusiastic response here.

Yes Yes, I try to keep my ball as comfortable as possible.. I'll post pics up of my red tail as soon as I get it. The cage setup isnt as interesting but its still fun to look at. Keeping it clean though might be a bit challenging but its well worth it.

Thanks, Marla. I'll check them out before signing off. Need to get going on another one since we'll be welcoming another member to our family w/in the next few days.

Definitely do. It's interesting to see just how many ways you can go about providing a habitat for your ball that meets their needs, and we have a fair amount of housing diversity here. There's one guy on another forum whose ball I want to confiscate because for months he's been posting pics of his enclosure and then not correcting the safety and husbandry issues people point out to him, like a bare light bulb inside the cage. Fortunately nobody here (so far) has had anything quite that off base. ;)

That would be a horrible burn. I imagine how hot my lamp gets and it would be really ignorant for somebody to stick that inside a tank. That metal gets extremely hot so does that bulb.. omg :| You might as well just stick your snake in the toaster.

I know, but the guy doesn't care how many people have told him it's a burn waiting to happen. It's not even a fluourescent, which tend to put off very little heat.

I know exactly who you're talking about Marla. It is frustrating! He thinks just because he's not seen his snake try to get to the light it never does or will. The light and the height also concerns me. I know how clutzy they can be and for a snake to drop from the top of his cage to the bottom.....ouch!

Here's my cage pic (I've actually done a bit of rearranging with the deco, but you get the gist):

here is my set-up... at least until I get my AP cage :) :) I called last weds they said it would be about a week or two b/c of a materials shortage that was recently worked out. I'll post new pics when it arrives! :) Oh and the humidifier is no longer there and the cage isn't in a closet ... but you get the gist.

Yes, the height and substrate and other factors bother me too, but the unshielded bulb bothers me the most. And he asks for feedback every time! Grrr.

OK, enough of that. I LOVE your enclosure. :D

Thank you! I'm actually going to move my Mexican Black Kingsnake into this enclosure and get a 48x24x18 boaphile for my BP - I think he'll really love me then.

I have such wonderful plans for my BPs new cage - I just hope it all comes together. I'm so excited! I'll be sure to post pics when it's all done......if it looks good that is.

I am sure it will. I love seeing the creativity of you and the other forum members in the housing setups. I have some ideas churning in the back of my head for possible setups after my move is done and I can start to think about things like that. :)

very nice cage setups everyone, im actually workin on building a cover for my ball. i have alot of work to do still yet. does anyone have any thougths about using aspen or cypress shavings as a substrate? again, awesome setups!!!!!! :D

I've heard of quite a few people who use cypress mulch for their BPs. I believe it is supposed to be good at helping with the humidity.

That is a good display on how nice rubbermaid can look. If I ever get my own ball I am defiantely using rubbermaid.

I agree, although rubbermaids don't fit what I'm looking for in a cage for my snakes, they can most certainly be made to look really good. I do have a rubbermaid setup that I use for quarantine.
