Just wondering if anyone has used one or the other or both and what they like better about it.

I use bark right now. Last night I found a couple very old looking feces that completely blended in with the substrate. It was by luck that I found these. If I had carpet I wouldn't have had that problem at all, so I'm thinking about switching.

    bark vs repticarpet
I have used both and loved them both. No bad things to say about either of them here.

I've never used the bark but it just seems like it would be a bigger pain. I use the carpet & the rug & it is SO easy. You can always see when they go to the bathroom or when they tip the water bowl or anything like that. They may not look as much like a natural environment but still, it make cleaning VERY easy. Once they are soiled, simply take one out, put in a clean piece & you are ready to go. Then you can just wash the dirty piece, let it air dry & you can continue to re-use. I have had Hissy for Almost two full months now (man it seems like a lot longer than that!) and I just keep recycling the same three pieces. I wouldn't even bother trying anything else, but that is just MHO.

I put astro turf on the bottom with a layer of cypress mulch on the top.. Works fine and you still get that natural look. Easy 2 clean as well =]

Anyone have a pic or link to the repticarpet? I personally love the look of repti-bark, and the humidity too. But everytime i did a big cleaning i would find poo's that had been hidden. Just blended in too well. So I'm off it to newspaper now.

I hear you on the newspaper, David. However I am a glass tank owner and newspaper jes' doan look classy! I use good old astro turf. Cleans and changes easy, cuts to fit any size, keep two handy for switching clean for dirty with no wait for a dryer. Tried crushed walnut shells, but you need to keep an eye out for little clusters of mold always trying to pop up...............back to astroturf.
If I was to use rubbermaid housing newspaper would probably be my choice. But for now the glass gets the turf.

I like bark better as a verb.

    What was the question again?

Got a 6x8' piece of plastigrass from Lowes (home Depot) for about $15. Us it in the enclosures where humidity isn't as critical and it would just take an ungodly amount of bark. We also use bark in the smaller enclosures (Forest Bark to be exact - good shtuff). Use both in glass, use neither in tupperware. THe bark is easier to spot clean, that's true, and if your herp REALLY goes, it has somewhere to sink so it wont be crawled through. To a much lesser extent with the plastigrass. Negligible absorbency or aeration with paper. I was surprised the plastigrass caca looked as good as it did - and was that cheap for such huge swaths. Yeah - aesthetics suck, I know - and at some critical mass function will exceed fashion.

I've used bark, I think it's harder to keep clean.

I've used newspaper, definitely cheap and easy, but the carpet looks better.
