Fire or Vanilla? Opinions please!

As some of you might know, I purchased this 2012 male fire and he arrived one week ago. Upon receiving him I noticed that is feed card said he was from a Vanilla x Pastel pairing. I immediately contacted the breeder and asked about that. He then said that he had put both a fire and a vanilla boy in with the pastel female. He says he can identify a fire from a vanilla and he says this boy is a fire.

You can see why I have my doubts though...

The boy shed last night so I snapped a few pics today (light tent, no editing). I did my best but he does NOT want to do anything other than stay curled up. He is around 300 grams.

I want to say fire. But I'm not that familiar IDing Vanillas though...

Fire. Great selection of pics for us to look at!

He's really beautiful regardless. I am just getting into fires myself. I can't find many belly pics but I thought that fires had more checkering similar to a YB. His belly is really clean. I will leave it to those with more experience to say definitively one way or the other but I hope he proves to be a Fire for you. Now please quit hogging all the best examples of morphs. I am still using your pied as the standard for all pieds.

Wow that is a GREAT looking Fire! Fires and Vanillas are hard for me to tell apart as well unless I see 2 of them side by side but that really screams Fire.....lovely example of the morph! Congrats!

I would say fire after seeing these new pics...

fires are going to have clean bellies majority of the time. I would say lower quality ones might have belly pattern.

This is what I was referring to as checkered. Not that the center scales were flecked or dirty looking. Just that the side patterns were more broken up or shattered looking than Mellisa's. All of the fires in this thread are great looking.
