Slow season?
I was wondering if anyone else is having a slow season this year? I have not had an ovy yet, nor do I feel follicles in any of my females but two. Also, who uses deli cups for water dishes? What size do you use and what PVC cup?

No not slow the breeding season for us is just really getting into good swing. Keep calm and let your snakes do their thing..

Re: Slow season?
Haha, thanks, I am going to have to look back into my records and see when everyone ovulated. Just got a new computer because my old one broke, so I can't really tell until I pull the info off my hard drive.

Re: Slow season?
Nope, kicking right along...I have already had 2013's hatch...I have quite a few clutches cooking, a bunch of girls due to lay and a lot of breeding getting done!
I use big bowls for females so they can soak!

My males have been slow to start, but things are moving right along. Got to ultrasound this weekend to really see where my females are at though. Feeling some good follicles in between ultrasounds too, but it seems a bit later than normal for me.

I haven't had a female ovy yet either, no stress, there's a bunch with follicles and the eggs will come when they come.
We had clutches from May to October last season, pretty much expecting the same this season.

I only have one breeding female right now, and though she has locked several times no ovulation as yet. She has shown a few signs in her behavior, but I notice no follicles yet. Like you, waiting and hoping.

Now I don't feel so bad ;)

I have one female clearly building.. a couple seeking the cool side and two others doing absolutely nothing. locks all around! Where are my eggs?!?! :)
-
Breeding one male to two different females. Both females have sought the cold side for about a week, if I remember right. Is this done while they are building? It was right after I started introducing my males if that helps. I haven't been able to feel any follicles and don't have an ultrasound, so no idea what is going on there.
Two of the times that I've put my male pastel in with my female cinnamon one (or both of them) has within a day put out a good amount of what I believe are urates and the lovely smelling yellow liquid that goes with it. Does this sound like scenting, them not getting along, natural bowel movements or something else entirely?

I palpated a few tonight and they are progressing better than expected. A few already have close to golf ball size follicles.:gj: I am expecting a few ovys March/April if all goes right.

To the OP, it's still real early, still lots of time for ovulation and breeding. I have had clutched laid as late as November and as early as January. Don't look at the calendar, look at the snakes, they have much more info. Be patient, all good things come to those who wait;)

We are ahead of where we were last year at this time. Our females are ovulatiing around 1-2 months earlier this year.

I've heard complaints locally (Phoenix) about things seeming slow this year, but it's my first attempt so I can't really judge.

I'm getting very strong breeding this year, especially the last few weeks.

Nice! I like hearing good news like that. Things seem to be happening for me this week, but I feel like it's too early to be certain.
