iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3?
so i just found out i'm eligible for an upgrade. i've had the iPhone 4 for the past couple years and i've loved it.. although after jailbreaking my phone, i still look at my jailbroken iPhone 4 as superior to the 5 in regards of what i can do with it, and i never want to go back to the stock restrictions apple puts on their phone. i was a little disappointed when the iPhone 5 came out. i think the "bigger" screen is a sorry excuse for being able to advertise a "bigger screen." i can hardly tell it's bigger. i love the size of the screen on the s3. i think it's perfect and any bigger would be too big (i.e.: galaxy note). i love how open ended droids are for customization, so theres no need to jailbreak (or so i hear.. i've never owned a droid based phone). i love google maps compared to the horrible apple maps. BUT, i do have a macbook, and i love how seamlessly the iPhone runs with my laptop and how apps like task manager apps can link from my phone to my laptop. the cd player in my truck also has a built in iPod doc (no auxiliary hook up) so i exclusively use my iPhone for my music. i know if i get the iPhone 5 i'll have to buy one of the adapters because of the new dock connection on them, but i love having all my music on my phone and just hookin it up to my truck when i get in.
i love getting a new phone and it feeling "new." having to go through and figure things out and play around with it.. and i know if i get the iPhone 5 i won't have this completely new phone feeling.. i don't want fanboys opinions that would go with one or the other no matter what. it would be nice if someone who's had both would chime in.. but persuade me. which way should i go?

Try going with the s3 and if you don't like it you can return it within 2 weeks for an iPhone 5. This is exactly what i did. I tried the s3 for 2 weeks. I liked it but liked my iPhone better so i traded it back for the iPhone 5. The keyboard was the biggest thing that i couldn't get used to lol. I tried downloading other ones but it just felt too different. Im extremely happy with my iPhone. It does everything i need it to. S3 is a great phone too though so i say give it a shot. My friend had an iPhone 4 too and upgraded to the s3 and loves it. Total opposite of me.

Re: iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3?
I prefer the Galaxy S3 by far, as it is more open by nature. My preference by far though is Windows Phone 8 and I traded my Galaxy S3 in for a HTC 8X which I just love! Not a better phone on the market and strongly recommended! Good luck my friend!

i had 3 droids within 5 months and did not like any of them. switched over to an iphone and i will never go with another phone again. the only thing i dont like about the 5 is the new charging system. ill need to get a new i home and car charger all that stuff which sucks. but me personally i am keeping my iphone 4 because i dropped it 8 feet on to the cement ground and nothing happended to it. no broken glass or anything. so i think i am ment to have this phone. the 5 does look nicer and i like how it is lighter. the camera on it is bad ass as well.

Re: iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3?
I have the note 2 and my fiance has the iphone 5. I perfer my phone over hers, it seems faster, obviously bigger screen, and its completely customizable. I like her phone too, but mainly because you can find absolutely any accessory for it you could want.
You will be happy with either phone, just choose the one you like most.

I know Verizon does this, although there may be a $35 restocking fee (seems fair to try a phone out for 2 week and change my mind) and they will let you exchange without problems. Not sure about other companies though

If You dont mind 5.5 inch Screen... You should go with note 2... even with that huuuuge screen and QUAD CORE CPU baterry life on this phone is amazing... Need for Speed most wanted lookx like on PS3 on that phone.. HD video on YouTube... BAD ASS!!!...
I'm Droid guy so i will push you towards galaXy series... but... if You are Apple Guy ...have MAC computer IPad IPod and all that stuff you should go with I5 just because of convenience of synchronizing stuff between all of your equipment...
just my 2 cents as wireless representative and tech... working for cell phone company :P

Re: iPhone 5 vs Galaxy S3?
I had the iphone 4s for like six days and hated it. I'm not even sure why, but it felt like a toy to me. I returned it and got the S3. This has probably been about a year ago, maybe. It's by far my favorite phone I've had. The iphone is popular enough though that it must be cool and I'm just a flake. If you've already had an iphone and like(d) it, you probably can't go wrong either way.

To me they are basically comparable so it comes down to American company vs Korean company. I would rather my money go to the states than Korea I see more benefit.

S3 all the way, hands down, no contest! By far best phone I have owned.

iPhone 5 Forsure :) way faster, more reliable, user friendly, doesn't feel like a computer in your pocket, longer battery life, more live apps, AWESOME camera with a sapphire lens which is nearly impossible to scratch!! (especially if you buy the ollō fisheye :)!!! It works wonders! Well worth It.
Here are some pics with the ollō fisheye and macro, it comes with 3 different lens..
Fisheye

The last one is wide angle but i haven't gotten a chance to mess with that one.
Oh and who could forget about panoramic mode!!! http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/02/12/byrybu4a.jpg

Another note id like to make is the "feel" of them is much different. The iPhone is made of that hard metallic like material and has the metal band around it (which i believe is actually the antenna). The s3 has that bigger screen and has a hard plastic housing. The plastic just feels flimsier and cheaper to me, like its gunna break if i drop it just once. Just another thing to consider that i noticed.

After having my s3, when I hold someone's iPhone they feel and look like bricks with small screens. Don't be a sheep.
S beam ftw

I respect your personal opinion. The whole convenient factor is a big player in my book. Back in the old days we used to have huge cells phones, no need to go back. I like the option of having my "brick" small screen while im on the go. I come home to a 55' HD tv everyday, no need to carry one in my pocket. Plus, I enjoy being able to walk down the street comfortably :)
Plus I haven't seen an attachable lens for an s3 that doesn't stick on :P

Lol I said the same things, until I got one.

Andriod > iPhone.
My 2 cents.
I have an S3 and love it.

Andddd when i hold an s3 I'm afraid that ill break it if i tap the screen too hard or set it down on the table too hard. I like the solid feel of my brick. And the big screen is nice, but doesn't make a difference for me. I don't watch movies (besides youtube) or play video games on my phone. Thats what my flat screen and 360 are for lol. When the iPhones in my pocket I'm also not worried about breaking it if i bump into something.

Lol s3 has gorilla glass type 2, you aren't breaking it by touching it. Who doesn't have a phone case these days anyway.

I haven't felt the need for a case. The aluminum its made of is plenty strong. Im now going to google patriots iPhone cases though, bc thats a lovely fashion statement imo!

Good call, i like her style. Trying to find one i like now lol.

I have a Galaxy Nexus. I must say I love the pure google experience and I would highly recommend it over other phones that "skin" the android OS. Pure Jellybean is such a pleasure to use. Touchwiz, HTC sense... I don't really like them too much. They come with some extra features, but overall I just don't like the look of it.
Have you thought about the Nexus 4? http://www.google.com/nexus/4/
I do like the iphone, but for me it just isn't customizable enough. I love the hardware design, but I don't love the operating system. It is great if you already have other apple devices, but its not a make or break feature. I have a macbook pro and an android phone. I use all google services already which are easily accessed through any web browser on any computer, so we have a similar functionality.
As for the plastic feel of most android devices, I'd say this isn't really as bad as people make it seem. These devices are SOLID. They are light because they don't use so much metal (sorry apple, love the design, not the weight). The plastic is not flimsy, it is FLEXIBLE. This is a good thing because when you drop it, it doesn't shatter like an all-glass iphone. I've dropped android phones left and right and never have I had a broken screen or any broken parts. I still have my droid incredible which has taken multiple tumbles out of my pocket while riding my bike. It still works.
Really it comes down to preference. Once device is not going to out spec the other. One is not "better" than the other. If you like having all of your apple stuff synced up, then go with apple. if you are looking for something with more freedom, go with android. You won't be sorry either way. Having a smart phone is something we sometimes take for granted. It really is amazing that we all have access to this amazing technology in the palm of our hands.
My vote would be android. Google is doing some cool things and its only going to get better. Also, be aware that this technology moves very fast so there is a chance your phone will be outdated in 6 months by something bigger and better. There is a big tech conference at the end of this month. I would wait to make your decision until after all the new devices are announced. There might be something amazing right around the corner.

i dont oike using phone cases so i usually just try to be really careful with my phones. had an otterbox for my iphone 4 and got sick of struggling to take it out of my pocket when i wore jeans so i took it off.. thats probably why the back of my phone is taped on right now. lol i felt like the iphone 4s were more fragile than the s3 because of the glass. so many people i know have shattered iphones. lol from my understanding though the 5 is sturdier?
