What was the first Scary movie you ever saw?
What was the first scary movie you ever saw whether sneaking behind your parents back or like me be in a Drive in generation where the whole family went? I would have to say I can remember a week end show when I was a young kid called "Graves & Manor" that played tv spook movies but as for a movie theater movie or Drive in it would have to be a 78-80 flick called "Slithus" lol OR a movie called "Phantasm" BOY!

I honestly have no idea, my mom has always loved horror so I grew up watching it. A couple of the earliest ones I can remember watching are one of the Hellraiser movies and Pet Semetary 2, which I LOVED but it was also the movie that scared me the worse as a kid. Still loved it despite the nightmares it caused.

My older sisters would traumatize me and make me watch Freddy and Jason when I was little... Not to mention one of my dad's friends making me watch The Exorcist when I was like 7 AND telling me it was a true story... Still scared of the dark to this day... lol The scene I remembered most from Freddy was the one where that boy had a water bed and he dreamed there was some hot chick swimming in it and then he got sucked into his bed... And I think his mom found him in the bed the next morning.... Haha fun times

The earliest I remember seeing was The Haunting (1963 version) on TV when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I couldn't sleep for weeks after that. But the scariest was going to see the Exorcist in the theater with my Dad when I was about 14 or 15.

The movie itself was pretty scarry, but it's what happened to me afterwards that creeped me out for years to come. At that age, I had all kinds of aquariums in my room. It was kind of noisy with the air pumps and bubblers and the heaters would start to glow every now and then and I had a power light that was always on in my stereo and some other lights from other electronics as well.

I crawled into bed that night shortly after coming home from the theater and I was feeling a little scared. Not a lot, but a little. I thought, well I'll just say my prayers and that'll make me feel better. Just as soon as I started to pray, there was a loud snap and a bolt of light shot across my room followed by an acrid burning smell and my room was suddenly plunged into complete darkness and total silence. It absolutely scared the breath out of me, I tried to yell but found I couldn't. I thought the devil was coming to get me right then and there. I was finally able to croak out a quavering Daaaaaaaaddd that got louder and louder as it went. My Dad came into the room and got me calmed down, once he reset the circuit breaker that I had tripped we were able to turn the lights on again and found out what had happened. I had a fish bowl with a betta in it that had a plastic light cover in the shape of a clam shell that fit on top of the bowl . The light had burned out but the switch was still on and the condensation inside the plastic light cover had built up to a point where the socket for the bulb was completely wet and ended up shorting out the outlet. When the outlet shorted out, it shot out an electical arc with the acrid burning smell (the face of the outlet was black with soot) which tripped the circuit breaker causing everything in my room to go completely dark and quiet. It's something that could have happened at any time, but the timing of it freaked me out for years to come. :O:O:O

My first one at the theater was "Halloween". I was 14 or 15 and it scared the dooky out of me. After that the only movie to ever really bother me was "The Exorcist." One other I liked, but would make the hair stand up was, "The Changeling" with George C. Scott.

Oh my gosh! lol! That would have terrified me too! For a very long time (like, for over a year!) after watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose, I would randomly wake up in the middle of the night, petrified, swearing I smelled smoke only to look over at the clock and it be right around 3 am. I was so scared I'd look over beside my bed and there would be something there. It's funny what your brain can do to you!

Drive-In generation, here! Man, I miss those!! If memory serves it was either The Exorcist or the first Friday The 13th. Such a huge fan of The Exorcist, we took a trip to the house and stairs from the movie in Georgetown, Washington DC!

    Jaws

I was watching it in the rocking chair with my mom when I was 5 and during the scene where Bruce the shark pops out of the water to try and eat Brody (right before the "You're gonna need a bigger boat" quote), I jumped out of the chair, extremely terrified, and yelled, "Holy poop!" That was the first time I ever swore. I'm still paranoid when I go to the beach.

Probably either "Leprechaun" or the "exorcist".

The Leprechaun was the scariest thing I've ever watched. I honestly had to sleep with one of my parents for years after that and I would have recurring dreams that the Leprechaun would be in my basement, or across the hallway, chasing me.

    Screw that movie.

I grew up watching them as well. I remember watching them when I was around 6ish. 1st ones remember watching are Jaws, Nightmare on elm street, and Friday the 13th but if it was out when I was growing up I'm sure we were watching it.
