    HELP... WHERE CAN I GET A TEMP/HUMIDITY GUN...CHEAP!!
We had a BLAST at the NVRE show! Did anyone else show up that we didn't find? It was me, Jotay, Smynx and Smulkin, my daughter, and the Smynulkin boys. :P

Here's just a few pics. I will let Smynx and Smulkin brag the news about what they bought at the show, so you'll have to wait until they get home...

This is Brian Sharp...one of the great breeders of BP's. I had a nice long talk with him. He's very friendly and personable. This snake he's holding is a brand new morph that he expects to prove out in the next year or so. This is a male he aquired a couple weeks ago and he's got a female at home that he got a year ago that looks exactly like him. The pictures just don't do justice to how beautiful this snake was! The morph doesn't have a name yet...

Here's my daughter holding a very sweet BCI...

This is a two year old bp that I just fell in love with. He's a "normal" but his color is an almost startling chocolate brown. He's also in shed, so looks a tad raggedy. I'll bet his colors are even richer right after a shed! They would have taken only $40 for him, and I would have given anything to be able to bring him home with me. :( Well...anything except the peace of my marriage!

And here's all of us! Jotay is on the left, then me and my daughter, then of course, the Smynulkins!

Wish you all could have been there!

Petra and I also spent the day walking around The Mall, the new WWII Memorial, many monuments and the Tidal Basin with these guys. (Jotay had to go home after lunch, though.) I must say, it was an extreme pleasure! Jotay is a blast to be around, and the Smynulkins are a wonderful family!

Smynx and Smulkin, you're raising some great guys there! (I can tell, despite the teenage antics! ) We had such a blast getting to know you guys! I hope we can do something similar again someday....although maybe we'll bypass the tidal basin next time...

LOL...well, if you read the text that I wrote above the pictures, it'll say who he is, and what that snake is.

says nothin' about the snake thats being held by him. I'm talking about the last pic in the 'album' i guess you could call it. I'm just gonna guess its Smulkin. Still don't know his actual name unless of course thats it.

Oohhhh....Sorry, Andrew. I thought you were talking about the guy/snake in the top pictures. That is Smulkin holding one of their new babies. But I really should let them do the bragging about those. :D

Wish I'd been able to make it and meet up with y'all. It sounds like you had a blast. :) I'm looking forward to hearing about Smynx and Smulkin's new acquisitions. I guess you and Petra were just "window shopping" this time? And Jotay, did you get any new critters?

No, Marla I did not but I did find the breeder I am gonna get my BCI from.
I did buy a Helix T-stat for Ozzy's new AP cage ( now I just need the cage to be del) But I sure could have walked out of there with more than a few.
    Some really beautiful creatures there.
It was great to met Judy and her daughter and the Smulkins. I had a great time and I am so glad I went. You guys are just great down to earth folks!
My son wishes he had gone now!
Sorry I baled on the sightseeing but I was tired from lack of sleep the night before, sorry I missed it. I could have spent all day with the great company.
Wonderful idea Judy, hats off to ya.

Truly a shame you missed on the "bataan death march" (as the kids seemed to think it) around DC. I am amazed I didn't get any more lost than I did - the whole Northern VA area has changed drastically in the 15 years since I lived there. Was awesome seeing you guys there.

The show was a blast! Didn't see any white-lipped pythons so I came away empty handed. What you see in my hand in the pic was actually purchased by our 13 year-old (black shirt) who used his hard earned birthday money to buy a male black blood python. He's had his eyes fixed on this big black Pine until he saw the pumpkin orange eyes on the Blood. I was kind of wary but the breeder plucked it right out of it's deli container and handed it to us with the caveat "not to say it won't EVER bite you - but these are incredibly good-natured". It was, at that - except for girth you could've been holding an unshy ball. Shortly after he paid for it and I was getting a more comfortably sized container for it it christened him. gess he takes after his dad in that we're "blessed" with the p00 touch.

I'll have to let Smynx tell you what she got for her mother's day present . . .

Amazing restraint you guys have. ;) I am impressed. It sounds like it was a show worth attending, for sure. I am looking forward to the Atlanta Expo in the fall -- I may just camp out right there for convenience, even though it's only 10 or 20 miles from here.

Hey everyone! We just made it back about 90 minutes ago. The new acquisitions are secured in their new enclosures, and as soon as the battery on our digital camera recharges, we'll be posting some photos as well. Yesterday was indeed a blast! Judy and Jody are two of the nicest women I have ever met, and Petra is just a sweetheart. That little girl loves herps!

Okay, new acquisitions: Kayne, our thirteen-year-old spent his still-fresh birthday money on a black blood python, which is what Smulkin is holding in that last pic. Believe it or not, he's a very sweet snake with no trace of skittishness.

I was offered 3, that's right - 3, baby BPs for $40 - not each, ladies and gentlement, but $40 for all 3! You just can't pass up a deal like that. And these guys are gorgeous! A LOT of bright gold in them. So I've got 1 male and 2 females sitting snug in their Sterlites beside my desk. Woo Hoo!

Jody, I wish you could have made it into DC with us. It was a lot of fun, but we could have skipped the march around the tidal basin - talk about stinky!!! And poor Petra had enough less than halfway around the thing - I'm sorry, sweetheart! Judy, thanks for putting up with us all day and for the nice words about my borderline delinquent children (okay, they're not THAT bad, but it was a long ride home).

Suffice it to say, a good time was had by all, and if you ever have the chance to hang out with Judy or Jody, grab it!

Wow, 3 new babies, that's great! I hope they're CB, but I know you'd check into that and make sure you knew what you were getting either way. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Are they sexed?

Right there Marla LOL must have missed it. Congrats on the 3 BP's I'm gettin' a female in June for about $50 Canadian.

Oops, you're right, Andrew, and I didn't even see it the first time I read this over. Sterilites, desk, 3 babies, $40, all registered, but not that they were 1.2. I need some good sleep one of these months.

It's supposed to be at the end of this month, but due to unforeseen complications (read, "everything that could go wrong has gone wrong"), it could be at the end of June or even July. I'm still packing and sorting and storing on the assumption that it will be the end of this month, though, just to be on the safe side. What a mess! I must have been very wicked indeed!

Jonah, I'd go with the AHS.....Bloods are a big step up from Ball Pythons and I wouldn't want you to get too ahead of yourself (I'm not doubting your ability, or anything like that lol).

Aye, verily it is. Especially if you THINK you know what you are doing :P

(EDIT for context: I was refering to Wizill's comments on DC being a pain in the A55)

I agree... DC is a pain in the patootie. But it's still really cool. A great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here.... LOL We missed seeing you there, Wizill....we kept an eye out for ya, just in case! :)

I actually made it out to the show as well. I didn't get there till 12 or so, I had to drive from Richmond and I spent friday night out, so waking up was somewhat of a challenge. Regardless, lots of cool herps there and some very knowledgable breeders.

What was the deal with the hundreds of baby balls on that desk right when you walked in? There were so many on the display, and a rubbermaid full of them. Were they imported?

Mikey the water monitor was very cool to see up close. Talk about 60 lbs of lizard!

Also I had never seen a GTP in person before, I can't decide if I want one anymore since they really don't like to be handled.

Overall a good show, although I wasn't crazy about any of the insects there. Spiders, scorpians, etc just don't sit well with me!

Hehehe - did you see the giant African Millipedes for $10?

That was a big ole heap of lizard there to boot!
