This whole thread is based on Smulkin's post found here: http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2769.html

ACRONYM FUN! List all the acronyms we use and define them so that new people will be able to figure out what the crap we are talking about!

    CONVERSATION

    LOL - Laugh Out Loud

    IMO - In My Opinion

IMHO - In My Humble Opinion

LMAO - Laughing My *(slang for buttocks)* Off.

    J/K - Just Kidding

    HTH - Hope This Helps!

    SNAKE STUFF

BCI - Boa Constrictor Imperator. Here is an info link:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-1896.html

BCC - Boa Constrictor Constrictor (Common Boa - see BCI for link)

IBD - Inclusion Body Disease. Here is an info link: http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...light-ibd.html

F/T - Frozen/Thawed prey items. Info link on that:
    http://www.proexotics.com/FAQ_answer...ng_thawed.html

    P/K or PK - Pre-Killed (see article in F/T)

F/K or FK - Fresh Killed (same as pre-killed see F/T for info.)

    GTP - Green Tree Python

    ATB - Amazon Tree Boa

    BP - Ball Python

RP - Royal Python (cooler name for a Ball Python, based on their name Python Regius ) NOTE - in Euorpe this is what BP's are called (RP's)

    Now for the hard stuff:

    CB - Captive Born

CBB - Captive Born and Bred

    WC - Wild Caught

    LTC - Long Term Captive

    FH - Farm Hatched

    CH - Captive Hatched

FOR INFO ON THESE (WC,CB, etc) SEE THIS POST
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2769.html

1.0.1 - This is a way of displaying the sex of a snake. It goes like this Male.Female.Unkown so if you had 1.0.1 you would have one male, no females and one unkown. Sometimes if the sex of the snake is known it will be displayed either 1.0 or 0.1 (leaving off the unknown numeral)

Please add any I've forgotten! :) Thanks for the idea Smulkin!

Well, I was going to organize them by type such as conversational response, snake reference, etc. but I gott a draw the line somewhere right?

EDIT - crap... i'm gonna re-organize... I swear on nights that I have things to do I get very OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) :) about my procrastination projects (such as this one).

hmmm should see all the ones we have on the frog forum
and so you know wtf stands for white's tree frog :)-
GTF green tree frog or grey tree frog
    FBT firebelly toad...etc
or how bout the ones on the bird forum i go to...lb lovebird, BGM blue and gold macaw..etc
let's not forget my fish forum....ugf under gravel filter, etc etc
hmmm cat forum, tarantula forum and leopard gecko forum. Sometimes I have to look at the forum I am in to figure out what the abbreviations stand for.
You know what's funnier than making a list of all the abbreviations?!?
The fact that I have sent an email to all my friends (the animal lovers) tell them what the abbreviations mean so that I can type shorter emails when I tell them about the critters.

haha yeah sometimes I get pissed at me for wasting time.. problem is my tuition is paid by my loans and a bit of free money from the wonderful university so I'll be kicking myself down the road paying off my loan debt but for now I'm having a good time and not having to re-take any classes... but pretty soon I'll probably be in the hospital for exhaustion haha... my theory that there are 12 hrs of the day that nobody uses is starting to take it's toll.. oh well summer in two weeks haha!

    STP - Short-Tailed Python
BRB - Brazilian Rainbow Boa (or be right back)

I'll have to revisit this a little later.

Hey, Smulkin, angelfire isn't letting you remote link to your avatar and sig pics. You can probably see them, but no one else can.

    RTB = Red Tail Boa
FWIW = For What It's Worth
    BTW = By The Way

Yeah they have been schizzing ot a cuople of days now. I made a choice banner for MajorGrabass and it's apparently making quite a few rounds and smacking up the bandwidth. Need to see what I can get from RR if I have any free space - I get that generic Angelfire image tag then after hitting refresh it seems to come back. OMGWTFPMS! There's my acronym ATM :P

I feel like a geek (or maybe not enough of one) but....EDIT??
  • 05-06-2004, 07:34 PM
    JLC
LOL... EDIT means just that. "Edit." If you look at the top right corner of any of your own posts, you'll see not only a "quote" button, but also an "edit" button. You can hit that "edit" button at any time and change your original post. This is often used to fix typoes and sometimes to go back and add a thought that hit you the same instant you hit the "submit" button. LOL It's "good manners" to put a little note on the post saying you've edited it, if you made any significant changes.
