if it's anything like my golden, don't touch it or it's gonna bolt.

It barks and bolts when ya touch it and sometimes Swan Dives for your hand when your doing things in the enclosure. Other than that s/he is a real charm to keep.

If it is as mean as their reputation says they are, then I think a good "warning" name also carries the fun irony of being applied to such a cute lookin' booger. Ripper is great, as are names like Butch, Spike, Demon, Fang, etc...

yeah i feel you on that one andrew. i love my geckos, but they are really the worst pet on earth for handling. i love my geckos simply for observational reasons. my golden gecko isn't as nocturnal as most caresheets and reports say, he's out and about most of the day... and he lets me watch him eat, which is something i definitely didn't expect when i brought him home. btw, go with toker.... ;)

He/ she is beautiful, looks kinda young (althou it's hard to tell).
Ripper is my big nile monitors name, and she's the greatest. I like that name..lol

Thanks all. I was peed the other day when I went to the pet store to get crickets. One of the knows-it-all employees there was asking me what i owned and i tld him i had just gotten a Tokay Gecko. So he asked if i was ever gonna take it out and i was like no not really i mean i may try to put some work into it you know just so that way when my hands are in there doing things she won't filp as much and he was like what your not gonna hold it. I'm like no its a show piece nothin' more than that and he called me a ***** because i didn't wanna chance/prevoke a bite. Its people like him that pee me off cause they have no ideas what they're talking about and are in it for the look. Anyways i did get her out yesterday and she didn't bite me. But she's deff a show piece no one can handle her. Narrowed the name down to Ripper or Toker. LOL Toker the hand smoker... what you all think???

Very nice Tokay! Just one suggestion though....I'd put some more hiding places in there so the gecko doesn't get stressed out. Tokays love to hide during the day and it seems like theres alot of open space in that tank......also, you know that they don't drink standing water right? The drink from droplets, thats why you have to mist them. :D

I mist him twice every day LOL and those pics are outdated cause since them I've added more hides for him. hehehe I love being one step ahead i also leave ice cubes on top of the tank over the leaves to have it drip on to them whenever i go out. and the standing water was placed over a undertank heater to add more humidity. Thanks for the info though Dave.

Will do those pics were taken the night i brought him home from a long enough drive so i wanted to at least give him time to settle before i was sticking my hands in the enclosure and moving things around. Cheers.

Yup LOL She looks as though shes settled in quite nicely into my constructed environment for her LOL. I've decided that the name of Toker (the hand) Smoker is well suited for her as she'll wait for you to get her out before she decides to bite ya.

Ice cubes on top of the screen....what a cool idea for providing water for those critters who don't drink out of bowls! I'm filing that one away for future need! Thanks! :D
