    Unintentional first lock???
So, I accidentally broke the topper to my female normal's tank this morning and I've had her out for more of the day waiting for the rubber cement on the repair to dry up but I decided to dump her in my Lesser's tank about a couple of hours ago since I was kind of sick of having her out, thinking nothing of it.

I went back to check the topper a few minutes ago and found them like this. I thought they were just laying on top of each other but I gave their tails a prod to see if they'd come apart and no siry, seems to be a genuine lock?

Looks like a lock. For future reference, never try to pull them apart, you could do some serious damage. How big is the girl?

Wasn't intending to pull them apart! Just gave them a poke to see if their tails weren't just... being weird.

Normal's pretty heft though and last time I checked, I weighed her in at about 2250g.

About 2200g, probably a bit more, and ahah, yeah. I picked up a couple at Petco because they were on sale at the beginning of the year. :P

To be honest, I have no idea what I was expecting. I haven't actually been doing anything temperature wise, if anything, it's been a littler colder since it's winter!
I guess I just wasn't expecting anything, period. My mistake.

You know, I think I found an image that more or less sums up my response.

Lol! well at least she's at a nice healthy weight :) Keep an eye on her and don't rule out the possibility of needing a small bator / hatchling care :) And I second that your lesser boy is gorgeous :D

Yeah, she's definitely ready to breed however, I was really hoping that my rack would come in the mail first before I got around to making the pairings happen! Probably going to get down to building an incubator before the end of February though, just in case.
    And thanks! :D

FYI: you don't have to drop temps or anything else ;)

Good luck there on a clutch of lessers:gj:

I had always kind of assumed like there was something to do with raising temps more but I guess that isn't the case! Either way, it's nice to that my investment in a proven male was worth it, haha!

Thanks, I have a Spider that I'm probably going to put him in with later so hopefully there will be some Lesser Bees as well. o:

You and I have similar breeding plans!

I've got my lesser hooked up to a pastel twice already but I have two normals and a spider for him next season! I'll hopefully be getting another male next summer for one of the normals.

Sounds like fun! I'm hoping that next year my Pinstripe will be ready for the breeding (she eats like a monster) and I'll have some Super male for my Normal.
But this year looks like a pretty good start.

This summer I'm looking into getting a 2-gene male and a pinstripe female...maybe even a cinnamon female. :D Lesser Pinstripes are sweet looking.

Awesome Lesser! That's how a good quality lesser should look!

Cool that you have a lock with them. It doesn't mean it will take, though. She may not have the follicles developed far enough along... In any case, he should help produce some beautiful animals.

Aha, not expecting it to take right away. Actually, I'd probably be a little frantic if it did since I still need to get my new racks in and my incubator built! Naw, I'd still like all the time in the world.
