    They GLOW before they go!!!
I've been checking on my big normal female everyday. Today I found her curled up kinda oddly, so I took her out and WOW... SHE IS GLOWING!!!! Guys, I'm so excited!!! The color change is DRASTIC. She is normally very dark!

I think she is really close to her OVY. She has been paired with a pinstripe, spider, and mojave for the past 6 months or so. I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T WAIT!!!! She is currently 2500g

Here she is before, she is the one on the bottom right.

That would depend on when she shed last :)

    Pretty girl, good luck!

She hasn't shed for a few months, she is due for one! Isn't the pre-lay shed the one to look out for?

pre-ov shed, glow, ovy, prelay shed.
If a female typically sheds every 12 weeks then the ovy would be around week 9 of that shed cycle, normally around 3 weeks before shedding.

So it is possible that her last shed was her Pre-ovy shed?

    Hi,

It's nice to see glow and non-glow pics to highlight the difference. :D

I would try and palpate her - the follicle size should tell you better than anything else how close she is to ovulation. :gj:

She is so visibly different, I had to post another picture for comparison.

I've tried to palpate, but its hard to be sure if I'm doing it right. I do feel some lumps in there, probably slightly smaller than a ping pong ball. Again, I'm not a pro.. Not even sure what I am feeling!

definitely a help, I like to do this with females that don't glow a lot.
Some females will stick out like a sore thumb during the glow, others not so much.

Definitely possible, but it doesnt tell you much. Pre ovy shed to ovulation times vary a lot. My girls have a pre ovy shed anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months before laying. Trying to count days before you get an ovulation gives you more of a headache than anything. Follicle size will probably give you a better idea.

They go by their shed cycles and the preov shed is normally 9ish weeks before ovy, then 2 to 3 weeks until prelay shed then 27 to 35 days on average until eggs.
You can't have a preov shed 2 weeks to 2 months before eggs are laid, that's just not possible.
Depending on the size of the female it takes 10 to 12ish weeks from preov shed to prelay shed, then 27 to 35+ days until eggs.
There seems to be this notion that they don't follow a certain guideline.
For the most part they are fairly predictable, there is "from what I hear" females that do things differently, but in all of the clutches I've gotten in the last 5 years not one has done anything out of the normal shed cycle.

Actually, it's quite possible. 2 weeks to 2 months are not "from what I hear", its what happens with my females. With my girls, the only time you can start counting with any accuracy is after the ovulation. I lost faith in a reliable pre ovulation shed years ago. Better to just go with the actual ovy!

I don't recall when her last shed was..probably November. I forgot to log it like a dummy.

After the preov shed they go into glow and that continues until they go into prelay shed.
They cannot drop eggs weeks after a preov shed, it's physically impossible :gj:

Oh yeah. I don't expect it! I'm waiting for the ovy or her next shed if I miss the ovy.

    They GLOW before they go!!!
I thought one of my girls was "glowing" but she is going back into shed again.
3 of my females all went into shed this week. I'm hoping this is a good sign.

I also got a pretty good photo of the one I thought was glowing. If anything changes after this shed, I'll get another shot to compare.
