What movie villain did the best job of scaring the crap out of you? I nominate Anton Chigurh, the unstoppable hitman from the movie No Country For Old Men, for being so crazy he probably makes other psychopaths wake up screaming :O

I was going to nominate the same.

Darth Vader is such a Villain, he fooled 3 episodes worth of people and aliens that he was the bad guy.

"The Joker" from "The Dark Knight." A complete psycho who wants to light the world on fire just to watch it burn.

I know there are a ton but the first one that pops into my head is from a recent movie. Corny I know but van dam in the expendables 2 was one of those characters you just needed to see get it.

Darth Vader was a great villain. But the Emperor was the real villain of SW. Darth was originally good, then evil, the good at the end. The Emp was always just cold and calculatingly evil.

However, neither of them we ever scary. Darth is a cool villain. He's the kind you'd like to hang out with.

The scariest to me is old school Freddy Krueger. Unless you were the plot device hero, there was no escape. At least you can run away from Jason and Michael Myers.

And while technically not a villain, the original Alien was one of the scariest movies for me growing up.

I suppose I can't find anything scary about an American cartoon villain. Now anime villains, you'll find some right down evil people there.

Title just says greatest villains, not scariest. If we're going scariest, I'd say Gary Oldman as Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula

    I agree.

I didn't choose scary. I don't think most scary or most psychotic make the best villains..... Just crazy antagonists....

I don't know about scariest but my two favorite villains are Scar from Lion King and Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds.

Scar because Jeremy Irons has the GREATEST evil voice. Hans Landa was just a fantastically despicable dude.

Harry Potter for me ranks up there with Pokemon and Naruto in the "Things That Are Popular But Shouldn't Be" category.

No, shh. I like Harry Potter too... although I still wouldn't say Voldemort is the greatest villain out there.

I don't know though. I recently saw Django Unchained and Les Misérables and they were both incredible movies. So, definitely Candie and Stephen made a great "evil" duo and as for Les Mis, the true villain there was the French government which made for a pretty interesting villain, so to speak, as well.

Arnold in The Terminator... nothing like a relentless T-800 to brighten your day! :gj:

I also thoroughly enjoy the T-1000 portrayed by Robert Patrick from T2: Judgment Day. The milk carton scene was sweet! :D

Oh wow greatest villain, not necessarily the scariest. Hmmmmm.

I admit I thought Heath Ledger was a fantastic Joker. Far better than any ever portrayed on screen. People tend to forget how scary comic book villains were meant to be.

I also thought Alfred Molina made a very passable Doc Ock in Spiderman 2. Stephen Lang was a villain everyone could hate in Avatar. Most of the Disney villains were very good at what they were.

Hugo Weaving was a very good villain in The Matrix movies. I liked Samuel Jackson as the villain in Unbreakable. I know there are many more.
