You might consider converting from a "person" to a "page". You can act as a person commenting, posting, sharing, status, etc...but people can "like" your page to follow it. With a page, you can track your statistics and see how far your reach is. Very cool stuff.

Take advantage of your local facebook reptile groups. Share your pictures and updates with them.

If you have a personal facebook account, it is super easy. From your news feed, click the "more" menu next to Pages. At the top of the page there is a button to "create a page". Tada!

Under settings you can also just add the "following" button.
