Banana anyone?
I was wondering if any BP members had any banana balls? They are one of my favorite morphs and also a morph that I've found little information on. I was also wondering what the latest news on the super form of this gene was as well. I remember when there were a lot of possible supers but never really heard much after that.
-
-
Cdavidson9 has a Coral Glow, which is the same thing. I don't think he's posted any photos of the snake yet though.
There are supers. But honestly, I like the look of the single gene version better than the super. The super looks kind of washed out and faded.
-
There are at least a few of us that work with bananas or coral glows. I was lucky enough to have a couple clutches this year.

Dave- Nice girls there!!
I'd love to have one, but they are likely out of reach for the average hobbyist. What are your's going for?
Maybe I could afford one??

That's a morph I'll definitely get when it's more affordable

I saw a girl on facebook classifieds going for 8k I think? Definitely coming down. Could probably find one for 5k or less next year (females) The males are still upwards of 10k last I checked. I'm totally out of the loop though, so don't take my word for it :rolleye2:

$8K is probably about right for a single gene female Banana/Coral Glow. There is a female SuperBlast Coral Glow for $12,500 currently available.
And single gene males are in the $12K range.
Still expensive but definitely coming down and should be more accessible price wise for the mid-ranged breeder later this year.

Dont worry they will tank soon enough

Agreed, they will be at a reasonable price before you know it.

"Reasonable price" is a term thrown around very casually it seems...for those who invested $50K into a banana male that was quick to breed and bred to multiple females, I'd be willing to bet that was a very reasonable price. No doubt they will be at a more accessible price soon enough...
-
Bananas this coming fall will still be around 5k for males I think. 7-10 for combos depending what it is maybe more for recessive stuff mixed in. These are investment reptiles and the only way to make good money is to buy in as high as you can. There's a lot of talk about bananas tanking they wont tank any worse then any other co dom morph. A lot of people want them and some people seem to really talk them down when there still out of their price range. Jealousy Imo. Well see what this year brings but I think it will be a great year for most.
-
Re: Banana anyone?
Thanks for all the reply's everyone. I have to agree with most of you about the price dropping. Being a co-dom mutation, after a few people get their hands on them and breed them, their numbers will spread like wild fire. Especially being such a beautiful animal.

This is my Pastel Banana male.

Re: Banana anyone?
Buddy of mine was offered a male banana for 6k at the last Daytona show. I could see them offered at 4k next Daytona show

Believe what you want I know what I heard. All it takes is a little talking around closing time on Sunday.

I'm sure it was a female, your friend is mistaken.

Tiffany, I haven't decided yet but I've been there the last three years. I didn't get my own table in the past, If I'm there I'll be at Brock Wagner's table.

Susan Hardy was offering her Blitz for 5k, and she said she was offered a male coral glow (or banana, i forget) for a blitz. I don't think 5k is really a stretch.
She left with an enchi HGW btw.... I bet that was a pretty penny :please:... Or a blitz !!

Re: Banana anyone?
Lets just put it this way i searched around and talked to lots and lots of people pretty much everyone in on this project early on. There is no way someone got bananas in daytona or was offered them for 5k or they would have jumped on it i knew people down there and they were not being sold for 5k that is a huge stretch. Like i said lots of talk about this project by jelous people who dont want to cough up the money for them. I did and im happy with my males these other people who are saying 5k are nuts because fresh hatchlings are being sold for at least 10k right now unless they are going over seas in huge packages.

Perhaps trade value is a little different than cash value. Someone thought trading a cg/banana male for a prospect animal priced at 5k was a good trade. Take it or leave it :gj:. I don't consider myself nuts when those kinds of trades are being thrown around. I don't think you're nuts or delusional for thinking that bananas will continue to be priced at 10k consistently. That's your business :gj:. I'm sure there will be people out there who will buy a banana for 10k. I'm sure there are people out there who are willing to sell their bananas for 5k. Perhaps since you dished out a lot of money for an expensive project, you feel the need to keep the prices up, and tell people that 5k bananas is crazy talk, and that 10k is the proper amount for anyone looking for bananas lol. Who knows :confuzd:. Who cares...
Advertise your snakes for how much you think they're worth. If people buy 'em, great! If they try to get you to drop your price, and you don't want to, then don't! Hold on to your sweet bananas until someone who agrees with you on the value comes and buys 'em.
-
The prices will come down but as of right now male cglow or bananas are just not being sold for 5k
-
Also, lets remember that an August hatchling (Daytona) is worth a lot more then a recent hatchling. I picked up an August male and he is now 600 grams and being introduced to females. A recent hatchling is probably 100 grams and won't be ready to breed until next year. I see a huge difference in value there. I spoke to one buyer in Daytona that paid over $20k for his male. I also saw what females were selling for. Of course prices are coming down but to think one person is selling them for $20k+ and across the room someone is offering them for $6k doesn't make any sense. Even someone that was desperate could have sold them wholesale for more than that.

Yeah I can't explain it lol. When I first saw the comments about 5-6k being ridiculously low, it reminded me of Susan's excitement when someone offered her that trade lol. She was stoked that it was a MALE, and they wanted to trade for her blitz! At first I thought the blitz were going for 8k-10k, so I was going to contribute something to the thread, but when I looked back at the pictures I took from the expo, her blitz BPs were going for 5k! Like I said, maybe it's a trading thing lol.. Maybe that person is having a tough time moving his bananas, and thought trading into a new prospect was worth it to him? I don't follow banana pricing, and honestly I thought they were worth around 7k. Tim (Royal Morphs) made a trade for some banana-ness. Hopefully he'll chime in :P.

This ole boy says that if you can get CG/Banana males for 5k let him know I will buy 3 of them. I am in the know and I say that maybe 2014 baby males will sell for -5k but not this year. They are coming down people, just not that quickly.
