Craigslist score!!!
So my Wife and I picked up some beauties off of Craigslist. The poor guy lost his job and had to sell his collection to pay the bills.
First up, 1500 gram proven Female Fire Spider

Second, 1250 gram Virgin Female Pastel
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/15/neta9ysa.jpg
Picked them up for a song.
I'll post some actual pics from the Camera tommorow.

Re: Craigslist score!!!
the pastel looks nice. the spider though looks like a regular old spider to me. i can be wrong though

These are Crappy Cell pics... She is very light and Golden. Plus her clutch hatched 5 days ago and I got to see them, two male Fire Spiders and a Male Fire. I was leery at first but after seeing her ib person I changed my mind.
Gale, Pieper is doing great!

Not that I'm saying she isn't a fire spider but if she was paired to a fire then those babies can still happen if she is a normal spider. As you said they are crappy cell pics which always mess with colors. Nice score!

She was bred to a Normal... LoL

Still doesn't capture her color but it's closer(kinda).

Oh I see some blushing now! Cool. I don't see too many fire spiders about. Neat morph. Good luck with her!

Truthfully, I'd rather not say on the Fire Spider but the Female Pastel was only $200

Very nice pick ups! I hope you didn't pay too much for the fire spider, I'm just not seeing fire. Granted your picture quality doesn't help so we can't judge the color very well, but that's not the only thing that makes a fire spider a fire spider. She seems to have an awful lot of spots for a fire spider. She also doesn't look reduced enough. The white on a fire spider belly is usually a lot more faded/blended, it doesn't look calico-y like yours. Even if she is only a spider she's a good pick up.
And I have to say, what breeder would breed a 2 gene female to a normal male?
Fire spiders on google search, the one with spots is a spider.

There are high gold spiders out there, this was my guy

You know I had my doubts as to whether or not she was actually a Fire Spider until I saw her in person. Truthfully the only way I'll actually know is to breed her.
However I can say that even if she is only a Spider I still got a great deal!!!

Just for reference this is a Spider Fire produced by Barry and Mike at Nicebalz.com

Re: Craigslist score!!!
she can be low quality. breed her to a male fire for the supers then you will prove her a fire spider.

That is definitely in the cards. She Laid her first clutch on Nov 12th 2012, They Hatched on January 9th. So she is done for this Season but that gives me a whole year to feed her up and make sure she's ready to go next Season with my Butter Male.
Also the Concept of Low Quality Disturbs me because Personally I prefer a Busier pattern on a Spider or Spider Combo Morph. And truthfully It's difficult finding Examples of Fire Spider as it's not the most common Combo, too Subtle for some people.
However, She is a Beautiful healthy proven Adult Female and that is what really matters to me.

Honestly Jay, even if she is just a nice spider, there is a lot you can do with her. Any chance I could meet her in person? I'd love to see if my eye could pick out any fire traits in her, since I have some fires of my own. I'll be shooting for a fire combo or two myself this season, and I'm curious.
Plus, I have that lovely little Vanilla male still, and I've heard the Vanilla Cream Spiders are really awesome. {hint hint}.

Pictures can make or break a morph. If you take a crappy pic (no offense, but cell phone pics indoors usually turn out bad) the morph is probably going to look crappy. If you take a nice clear photo in natural sunlight, you will really see the colors come to life.
No one can tell from those photos that the animal is not a Fire Spider. I bet some better photos and we would be better able to identify her.

I'm on your side that its a fire spider and yes I know there is alot of polymorphism out there but fire spiders well alot of them, have reduced head pattern like yours. Also that's alot of eye holes for a spider.:gj:

Re: Craigslist score!!!
So were never really going to know what that spider was bringing to the table genetically, fire or otherwise. When Jay and I picked her up last week she was active, looked great, no indication anything was amiss. The previous owner had a clean setup & his other snakes were great looking too. Thursday morning Jay notices she was a bit sluggish & just not looking 100%. Thursday night she had died. I'm new to herps and don't pretend for a second to know everything but I'm at a loss to see what went wrong. In fact the only worrisome observation I had in the 5 days we had her was that she seemed to urinate a lot. I weighed her the day before she passed & she had lost about 200 grams in what I can only assume was water weight, that seems like an awful lot to me but then again I've witnessed 2&3 hundred gram poops so it's hard to say. If anyone has insight into what could have been going on with her I would be grateful.

Dang that's no good.
Please tell me these guys were FAR away from the rest of the collection in QT. And Please tell me they got no where near my baby pied, I'd never get over it if something happened to him.

Re: Craigslist score!!!
Ouch! That is really strange. If you have the snake in the fridge I would take it to a vet and see if they can determine the cause of death. That is just too freaky to not figure out the problem.
