She's pretty. How old, and how big?

Re: Lets Dispel a Rumor
And was there anything special that drew you to that one as a baby? Or did you produce that one yourself?
-
Do you have pictures of her as a hatchling?

Those pics are useless without Age and Weight :(

She's pretty. Her head is very "Super-ish"!!
-
I have posted her a few times before. She is an import so I do not have pics of her as a hatchling. I would guesstimate her to be around 4 yrs old considering the weight I obtained her at. She has been in my collection for 3 years and atm is 1300 some odd grams. She has always been a finicky eater. I have 3 different pastel lines in my collection and she is very different from any of them. These pics are untouched straight from my samsung note.
-
If shes an import then how do you know shes a pastel?
-
She has pretty obvious pastel traits but she is extremely clean and bright within her yellow tones being a totally diff shade of yellow compared to other pastels. Some have suggested that she may be a vanilla pastel based on some of her characteristics but I dont see that.

Imo deserts look like nice pastels. Im just making the point that you cant technically call her a pastel for sure and compare her to other pastels bc she could be her own morph. Shes really nice.

I purchased her as an "odd pastel," to bring in my own line of pastel combos. By my paperwork she is labled a pastel.Only future pairings will tell if she is "only" just a crazy pastel or something additional, or something totally diff. Also to clarify, she is a wc import not ch'ed

She still browned out compared to whatever she looked like as a baby. You can see the mottling on her back quite clearly.
But she's a gorgeous, colorful adult. And that's the best possible trait to have in your pastel breedings (only thing better is if it turns out to be really inheritable, and she makes lots and lots of babies that turn into bright adults.)

Totally agree! - Added 2x sub-adult female Pastels to my collection a few years ago (imported by a friend, direct from Ghana) - One has proved to be a Pastel Yb
Am also of the opinion that the OP's animal is not 'just' a Pastel, and i wish him the best of good fortune in hatching some cool stuff from her

Thanks h00blah! :)
I have been trying to get some new pictures of her with the new camera, but she won't hold still. Just won't do it. This is the best I've got, and its because I just opened her tub real quick, with camera ready. All I get pictures of is her tail as she is escaping the tent to get to me.

Yeah I agree, you can't really "Dispel a rumor" based on the fact that you have a nice clean looking "pastel-like" animal, especially when you don't know what she looked like as a hatchling, nor do you know 100% for sure that she is a pastel and not a pastel combo or even something completely different.
JMO, though. Either way, she is an absolutely gorgeous snake!!
-
Wow she is very pretty! Nice and light!
-
She looks like a pastel. I don't see anything else going on other than sheer beauty :)

Re: Lets Dispel a Rumor
How in the heck do you get a hold a of a ball python from west Africa?
-
Whatever it is it's really clean like a nice super. Need to breed that one for sure!
-
She's definitely a sweet looking import that should work well with just about anything!
-
Def is a great looking Pastel........ but it has still browned compared to it as a hatchling. As has been noted already, you can clearly see the browning. Also those pics have a lot of flash in them which I am sure has drowned out a lot of the browning. I have a 2kg pastel breeder female that was very hot as a hatchling. She has browned out as an adult. I can take pics of her with a lot of flash and it too will drown out a lot of her browning and make her look more yellow.

My intention by posting this thread was to soley show ppl that all pastels do not brown out as tons of them on the market tend to do so with age.Not to make a "look at me post." The pics I posted lastnight were fresh shed. To point out your idea that Im washing the colors out by flash, here are some older pics just for you WITHOUT FLASH and in natural light. In the last two pics you can visibly see some dirty brown towards her neck area but keep in mind those pics were before a shed. She has lightened more since the last 2 pics were taken.
Next to a fire.

All pastels will have a tiny bit of brown because it happens to be part of their coloration. What we are looking for is adults that have held their yellow color to adulthood. I've seen some pastels so browned out they look like super blushed normals. But the yellow color just wasn't there.
I think the point of this thread is to show that not all pastels are created equal, whether imported or not if its compatible with other pastel genes then it is a pastel.
There will always be a little browning.. its up to us to breed for a high yellow pastel that holds its color, not picking up the cheapest one just to have a clutch of brown bees.

I agree that she is a great looking pastel (assuming she is just pastel, and not more) but I think perhaps the point here should be "pastels don't always lose their yellow" and not "pastels don't brown". I'll bet that even this pastel was more yellow as a baby, and has indeed "browned". Despite that, she still looks awesome and is the kind of pastel everyone should look for!

No can do i'm afraid - Pairing was BlakEL (super Fire) x 'Pastel' - Results were...
1.1 Fire
0.3 Fire Yb
1.0 FireFly Yb
Here's one of the female Fire Yb's (colour is almost spot-on)
