As you all may or may not know or if you haven't read my previously submitted thread. I am deploying for four months. I still have not found a place for my two bci's that I recently took in. I only have about a week and a couple of days before I leave and I am desperatly looking for someone to take them in . I will pay for shipping! Pleassssssseeee, someone help. I have a 5 foot male and a 7 foot female..... i am desperate because regardless if I find someplace for them or not, I am leaving. There is nothing i can do about that.
-
I will be in michigan from saturday to wednesday, and will be able to ship them on thursday of next week. As I am leaving that sunday, the 9th
-
If no one will take them, I think i have read in this forum before about a georgia reptile rescue center that will take them. N e one know anything about this?
-
This really stinks, Justin! I hope you find someone to take them. I will talk to my husband about it tonight, but since he's paranoid about big snakes and we are also moving during that time you'll be away...it is unlikely that I would be able to take them. If I CAN do it, it will be on the condition that it is "snakesitting" and nothing more...I would give them back to you as soon as you get settled again. Like I said...I'm not holding out much hope...but since it would be a temporary situation, I should at least ask. I'll let ya know tomorrow.
-
I so wish I had the room to take them for you...but I just cant shove anyone else in this one bedroom apartment. Good luck on finding someone.
-
Is this snake sitting or are you looking for a permanent home. What kind of enclosure do you have these guys in.
-
that is what i would like to know.
-
well, i wouldn't be back until november and after that i do not know the status of where I will be. So. I could not tell you wether it will be sitting or permanent. I dont know. Like i said, there is nothing absolutly nothing I can do about this.
They are in a 75 gallon aquarium

have a look at http://www.grare.org/. on their donations page it says they are currently able to handle snakes under 10 feet, and a lisenced rescue like that would be a perfect place. if you cannot find homes, they will be more than happy too. and just fyi, it's not THAT easy to adopt an animal from a rescue. you are usually asked extensive amounts of questions in the adoption form, and must give detailed answers if you want a reply... so what im saying is, your boas will get a good owner.
-
btw justin, your situation is perfect for a rescue. they will gladly take in a snake that isn't able to be cared for due to deployment, moving, any life-changing situation like that. i think the only thing that annoys good-hearted reptile rescue workers is when people dump the animals bc they just are bored with them... or are too uneducated too care for them, such as a burm that was once a "cute little baby snake".
-
cool, thanks a bunch will.
-
Justin, if you want to give one or both up for adoption I can check with someone who contacted me after you got them to see if one was still available. Would you be willing to deliver to Atlanta if that's the case?
-
Yes, if grare does not take them we can try that. but its looking like they will take them
-
OK, I am sorry you weren't able to find someone to just care for them for you. That's really unfortunate.
-
Man that sucks sorry to hear it I wish we had the room and money to take them in.
-
I'm really sorry it worked out like that Justin, I wish I could have been more help. SORRY!!! :( I just didn't plan on 12 feet worth of snakes, I planned on a ball python (a few months back, I mean). :( I hope all works out!

Booklist?
oh, i know jen, its not problem really. I would rather have hydra close to home anyway. Shes my baby, and shell just be right upstairs. But it looks like GRARE is taking them. So it all worked out. Maybe not for the best, but it could have been worse.
-
Well, I'm really glad to hear that. Did they say anything about them keeping them for you until you get back, or they may adopt them out in the meantime?
-
they only adopt out, and if they don't adopt out in 6 months, they euthanize. :(
-
But you'll be back in 6 months, right? Maybe you can just adopt them back. :D
-
JUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!
I can babysit one of them for you. Probably don't have a place for both, but pick one and ship it to me, and I'll hold it for ya!!! I'll talk to the wife, maybe I can make room for both. Consider a spot for one of them found, at least. I'll let ya know.

Oh great news Randy! I'm so glad you can help Justin out!
-
-
but randy, like i have said before it might not be just snake sitting, it could be permanent, i can't predict that right now.

Just don't write that on the outside of the box. I ended up INFORMING the wifey that I'm going to help you out with one of them, so I won't be able to do both, but "officially" I'm snakesitting. Our unofficial arrangements will remain in this thread. :D Do you have a preference as to which you want to send? I have two females already, and if there's a possiblity it may be permanent, I wouldn't mind having a breeding trio....... :D
-
I can only echo the sentiments of the others Justin. I wish that i had the room for one of your big-uns but I just don't. Good luck finding them a good home man!

Happy News!
hey i might be interested. i have to talk 2 my dad. is there a way you can just give one of them away? i figured that giving one away would be better than both goin somewhere else. and the tank? would the tank come with it? cause im a littl low on cash right now, but i can provide food and housing for it. i just have to talk to my dad. i would be willing to take the male or female. im me on donttalkjustlift, or email me at donttalkjustlift@yahoo.com
-
Who can you trust more then the VP of bp.net to care for your snakes?
Randy, I won't tell the wife if you don't ;)
-
lol, well randy I can send the male to you. We can discuss more details on it over the email. I will email you as soon as I get home from work.
Rex, depending on where you lived, depends on if the aquarium will come with it. If you are close enough to where i can drive it there, or if its on my way to mississippi from georgia, will determine that. You have to think about this though. This female i just got and was a rescue already. She has only eaten once in the last six months and is very underweight. I have only had her about 3 weeks, if that. And she has also had a history of respiratory infections....
-
Hibbiscus Flowers....
im in flint mi, im waiting for the answer from my dad, but if i cant get the tank i cant get the bci...hopefully my dad will tell me 2nite. do u no if she has ibd or not?
-
wierd scale
Boas can have IBD their entire life and never show signs. That's why it is very dangerous to have Boas and Ball pythons housed in the same room. Pythons get it and die within weeks, and boas just carry it and can live a long full life. Sometimes it affects them, sometimes it doesn't.

thats part of it. i need to know if it does. i aint gonna risk it and keep it with my BP in my room. so right now im waiting to see what my dad says and seeing if i can put it somewhere. pretty sure i can though. the feeding part is probly stress. when you said history of RIs, did you mean just one or multiple? and do you know if they were easily caught? do you have any idea of why she aint eating? and if i got the tank, would the lights/heat come with it?
-
Anybody feel like buying a hot
hey, im really sry. after thinking about it, there is no way i can take it. i dont wanna risk IBD in my BP and the only other place i could put it is my basement, which is to cold, and hard to keep the temps. im sry and i hope everything goes well. i do want a bci thought, just later on down the road

If you want a good home for your snakes, give Northern Virginia Reptile Rescue a call. They are AWESOME.
I tried to adopt a ball python from them, and got rejected. They said that they had a few other inquiries on them from people who had way more experience and all than I. They don't mess around when it comes to adoptions.
They also quarantine ALL of the rescues for a period of time to ensure that they are healthy. I think that the only animals that they have euthanized are giant burmese pythons (its self explanatory why). Take a look around their site. All of the snakes that are out of quarantine get a home shortly after they are ready for adoption. Like I said, when I tried to adopt one, they said they have ## others also applying to adopt the same animal.
Here's a link: http://www.boxturtle.org
Also, I am not sure what your financial situation is, but I'm sure that with a moderate donation, they could keep your snakes as a display for the time that you are overseas. Just talk to them on the phone, they are very friendly.
-
Hey one of the ladies from Boxturtle.org was at Dr Stahl's today when I went in to drop off Ozzys sample.
She had some rescues in there seeing the vet.
Look like great people and take their rescues to one of the best repitle vets on the east coast so can't be to shabby
