Red vent....
I a baby normal bp, shes about 6 months old.. She eats like a champ but shes having trouble shedding so today I went to give her a bath and I noticed that her vent is red.. What can be causing this and how can I fix it?
-
Is there a lump at all near her vent?
Any chance you could post a picture? There are lots of reasons it could be red.

Re: Red vent....
I will post a picture as soon as I can.. She looks full like right after a meal but she hasn't crapped.. Will a Luke warm bath/soak help her out?
-
The bath definitely can't hurt. Just soak her and leave her alone to soak in the water. Make sure the water doesn't get cold, and check on her every 5 minutes or so. That usually does the trick for me.
I would definitely post a picture first though. Mine never gets a red vent, and the red vent thing could be something that can get irritated by the water.
Also, what substrate are you using? What are your temps and humidity?

Re: Red vent....
Ok I will post a picture first thing tomorrow morning

Re: Red vent....
It could be that she's about to pass a urate or defecate. A picture would be helpful.

It's not as bad as it was yesterday.. Hopefully nothing to be concerned about

That snake looks seriously dehydrated...
-
She's soaking now so I can get her skin off.. But the humidity in the cage is fine
-
you know that stuck shed is the number one sign that the humidity in the cage is NOT right?
-
Yeah, that is a bad shed. A wet washcloth inside the tub with her will help her rub it all off. The soaking will usually get them to poo too.
I agree that she does look a bit dehydrated, and I'd put my money on saying the humidity is too low in the cage. I'm not trying to sound rude, but that's really what causes bad sheds. The shed looks very bad.

Re: Red vent....
Dehydration isn't necessary about the humidity in the cage but also the snakes intake of water. I have kept an eye with my snakes during sheds, and tested the humdity in different % and I have experienced several times that a snake that is drinking well and are hydrated in that way will shed perfectly while a snake who's not drinking enought can have a bad shed independent about the humidity in the cage...
A hydrated snake isn't just because of good humidity in the enclosure.

And a well-hydrated (good drinking) snake can shed perfect with low humidity in the enclosure as well.

thank you for proving that I didn't lie just to make myself look good.. the humidity is right.. but I've never seen her drink.. she had a bath and I got every piece of old skin off.. I also made a humid hide with vermiculite in it and she seems a lot better now

Didn't she drink anything when you gave her the bath?
This was brought up on another forum, so I had to check it out and I have noticed that some snakes have some kind of trouble very often, and other going perfect even if they both are kept in the same way. I can even raise the humidity on the snake I know use to have bad sheds and it still won't help unless the snake itself drink enough water. Have to give them a bath before everything goes off. I even tested not to do anything with the humidity on snakes I knew did drink well, and all of them shed perfect.. Meals and water is a must to have hydrated animals.
