I had never heard of them until Mike posted about them - I am VERY intrigued? I've been trying to research but can't find any really good places. Do they sell these as pets or are the still trying to raise the population numbers? Any info would be great - here is a link to Mike's post. http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2616.html

    Angolan Pythons?
Angolan Pythons are still fairly uncommon in US collections....they are closely elated to Balls, in fact NERD successfully crossed the 2 species in the past. I don't know much about the care of the species, but I know that they're very expensive, lol.

Any idea how long it will be until Angolans have some numbers in the US?

$2400 - $3000 is quite a sum! haha can't wait until they get an established population here.

Until the 20+ years of strife in the Angola area subsides I'd guess they will remain one of the harder to attain species. I remember doign a report on Angola and mercenaries waaaay back in high school. Damn - I was wearing checkerboard patterned VANS at the time if that gives you an idea how long ago it was lol.

True dat - I still think laces suck . . . ok yeah so I'm just a lazy flatfoot who likes comfortable footwear.

Doesnt say much for myself that all the progress I have made in the past 21 years amounts from having gone from this

    to this

Back on the subject - they are some mighty fine looking snakes - especially like how consistent their "mask" is with BP's.

They don't really do anything for me....I think they look like another BP morph. Different stroke for different folks. :)

And in reality, an Angolan python is more closely related to an African Rock python than a Ball python. Crazy, huh? I think they are beautiful. :)

it's funny how new keeping reptiles is i mean 20 years ago not to many people even knew how to take care of them (although it kinda is still like that but at least the info is available). There are probably hundreds of species of snake that would make great pets but are a long ways from getting there. I mean if you want to get a breed of dog you can get it you want a species of snake you need to take what you can get(beggars can't be choosers). I think what we are doing with bps is silly finding all these morph and charging crack prices for them we should be focusing effort toward other species. Its like taking butter and making it green with pink spots and charging 20 times more for it. Thats my rant of the day.

From what I read, Angolan Pythons are one of the rarest pythons in the world, as it is very hard to get any from their native land as its almost always at war.

They are however, extremely easy to care for I believe.
