Your picky eaters and your pigs
I currently have just 1 normal male bp and he is a beast. Since i got him about 9 months ago he has never rejected his weekly saturday lunch. Even in full shed he ate. But im getting a mojave male and a spider male on friday. Im just hoping they are good feeders too. So that got me wondering, in your collections who are your picky eaters and who are your pigs?

Re: Your picky eaters and your pigs
My little piggy vacuum cleaners are corn snakes. Nothing beats a colubrid when it comes to appetite! There's no such thing as a leftover at my house :colbert:

Re: Your picky eaters and your pigs
As for bp's my pastel girl will eat anything any time. My sable girl will eat leftover live. My het pied girl is a pain to feed. Live only about half the size of what she should eat and only if she decides she's in the mood. Early 2010 model and just broke 1100 grams this month. My male dumerils only eats after a pooh which is about every 3 weeks. My hypo Arab boa girl would eat everytime I walk in the room if I'd let her. Lol

I'm going to try feeding my new normal boy tonight, so I'll find out about him, but so far all three of my other balls are great eaters. The only "trouble" I have had was when the mojave was in shed. He wanted to eat, but couldn't see so wouldn't eat. Went 10 days without eating, when he's used to a 6 or 7 day feeding schedule. Once he shed, he ate like a monster.
My rosy boas are pigs too. One has never refused a meal (except when in shed). The other WAS a picky feeder, up until his little escape adventure. We found him UNDER our house. Since then he's eaten every meal offered him. Guess he decided it was better to be a captive snake hand fed meals in a nice warm tank than to be a wild snake who has to fend for himself and deal with the cold!

I feed my normal in the same seperate tub and have done for 4 months. At first she would be trying to get out of the tub...
Now, she sits there, looks at me, neck rolled in, waiting for that rat. Strikes, eats, sits and waits for another. Its bloody brilliant.

The pickies....two of my biggest girls are on and off eaters, one of my normals has always been pretty picky, and my spider will only eat mice. My new little Pin girl and one of my big girls will only take live though. Makes them picky in my book since I pretty much only feed f/t.
The garbage disposals: all my colubrids and bull snake, all my boas, my Angolans, Bloods, and most of my newest younger BPs are strong eaters too. My little coastal has never refused a pinky/fuzzy rat and my retic will eat only if she's not in shed.
Overall: I'm pretty lucky to have some good eaters.

My normal never misses a meal!! He even eats the extras my pastel refuses lol
-
My picky eater is my butter male. He won't eat unless it a live mouse and the lights have to be out. My only snake in my collection that won't eat rats or FT, he is a pain!
By far the BP that will eat anything anytime is deff my big pastel male. He would eat everyday if I fed him that much!

My spider is a hog. She's 7 months old and already 1000g. She gets an appropriate sized rodent every 5-7 days, and has only ever missed a meal once.
Our lesser pastel on the other hand, is a picky little jerk. He'll only eat mice and then only when he feels like it.

All my colubrids never miss a meal, but here it is my other snakes:
Hogs:
Petrie my bee
Ruby my pastel
Four my boa
O.K feeders:
Mojave, Eva- live only
Pain in the butt feeders:
Pied, Littlefoot
PH albino- pure frustration

My best eaters are also my biggest girls--for good reason! Pastel, butter, and two normals. They let me know when it's feeding day and always come flying out of the bin.
I have a young het pied girl who refuses to eat when there is a hide in her bin, two males who will not touch food from dec-feb/mar and the rest of them are not too bad, miss a meal here or there.
