WiiU!
I just got my wiiU a few days ago and man is this thing awesome! Anyone else pick one up?
-
Really guys/gals...not one other wiiu person? Just sad :(
-
Nope. It's incredibly slow (someone timed it as being over 30 seconds to shut down an application), looks clunky, and I highly doubt it'd fit my hands.
-
I have no interest in the Wii U either. You will find that plenty of people have a similar response.
Sorry I guess?
-
Lol yeah there's a lot of hate going around, none I have heard from anyone who actually has one. Im a huge 360 fan boy even tho I have a ps3 as well. But the wiiu is awesome for what it is right now, it does a lot more then anything out for the next year. The game pad surprisingly feels real comfortable in your hands. Real cool thing is I can play a game of COD or whatever on the game pad screen while the wife watching something on tv.
-
I love my wiiU! I got it on launch day and I couldn't be happier. The load times aren't that bad at all! To all you haters... BOOOOOOOO
WiiU is fantastic. The gamepad is very cool and the way it integrates into different games is very unique. I also love netflix, the web browser, youtube, and miiverse. I love that it is my new universal remote. no more fiddling with the tv remote, cable remote, and the computer. Wiiu does everything I need it to :) Very seamless. Did I mention I love the gamepad?
Add me as a friend on miiverse: Kaorte
What games did you get? I got SMBU, zombiU, and nintendoland. I was hoping to get pikmin 3 but it looks like the release got delayed :( boo

Mario cart 64 and super Mario 64 were IMHO the best renditions of those games. Woot!

Are you kidding? Wii was a great console when it came out. the 3DS is also very cool. They are pushing the boundries with new technology, not just upping the graphics and making games more "realistic". I couldn't care less about realistic graphics. I want creativity! I want to use motion and gestures, not just click a bunch of buttons really fast. To me, that is not fun. :P Call me a "casual gamer" because that is what I am!
WiiU has fantastic graphics, support for hardcore gaming, and tons of new and unique casual games.
Have you even touched a wiiu??? All my friends who have come over love playing it :)

Yea ive played a Wii before. Imo the remote never really worked quite right and it was kinda hard to get it to. The controllers also just feel awkward in my hands. And the graphics on all the wii games i played looked like baby graphics compared to ps3 and 360 stuff.
-
My personal opinion is that the Wii is a terrible console. Horrid graphics for the price, and slow. Not to mention a crappy OS at best, the 360 is way preferable. I hate the motion sensing, especially on shooters. I'm with Mike, Nintendo is failing. I love the 64 though!

Hey, I agree N64 had some of the best games of all time, but wouldn't you want a NEW mario kart? a NEW mario party? WiiU has AMAZING graphics compared to the original Wii. But the Wii wasn't about graphics, it was about playing with your body. Controlling the game with actual motion. It encouraged people to play together and to get off the couch. I never had a problem with the wii remote. Maybe you were playing with the old wiimotes that lacked wiimotion plus.
All I am saying is, don't brush it off just because it isn't the original N64. Nothing will ever be like that. I like where nintendo is going. They are opening up gaming to a whole different level and allowing 3rd party developers to create really thoughtful games for their consoles.
I'm sick of shooters. I'm sick of static gaming. :P Be open to new things! I swear, you will have fun!
I think this is where a lot of people are confused. The Wii and the Wii U are two completely different consoles. It is backwards compatable, but does emulate the old Wii in order to play old games.

Technology is amazing isn't it? The game pad is sick and I'm really liking miiverse ( the video game version of Facebook) nitendo ame up with. I picked up nitendo land that came with the deluxe version, nsmbu, black ops 2 (played all versions, wiiu's is the best experience) Batman armored edition that is sick using the game pad for all his gadgets! I was thinking of getting zombiu everyone is saying its amazing even tho ign didn't like it.

Dude screw IGN! I swear they played the game for 5 minutes before writing that AWFUL review. It really is a fun game, but it is not a shooter. It is a survival game, which I actually really enjoy. I like sneaking, scavenging, sniping, and taking my time.
Does no one here like super smash bros??
-
Note: wiiu is absolutely nothing like the wii. It's better then ps3 and 360, will it be better then ps4 and 720 I doubt it but that's why I'll buy them all like always. Don't hate and just enjoy the tech. Wiiu is amazing right now.

Re: WiiU!

Wii U was released November 2012.. Why are you giving false info on the Wii?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii#Launch And how was the original Wii a failure?? There were major shortages when it first came out. Everyone wanted one.
-
Everyone wanted one, and then returned it when they realized their 360 kicked the crap out of it. Or at least that's what I and most of my friends did. It was the first major console with motion sensing, so the hype was huge. But for the $250 or so original sale price, there was little bang for your buck.
-
The only problem with the wii is it has hardly any games i want to play. new one comes out beat it in 3 days. then it sits on the shelf collecting dust for 6 months or more till another decent one comes along. i'll take halo4 on xbox live any day over the wii. i'll give it this though. the right games are alot of fun to play on wii. there are just way to few of them.

Well duh the 360 kicked the crap out of it! They are on different levels. They weren't geared toward the same audience. Are you telling me there is a warehouse full of returned wii consoles somewhere?
Anyway.. comparing the wii to the wiiu is silly. They are completely different. And yes I would say the wiiu is a big competitor for other major gaming systems. Why else would Microsoft and Sony add peripherals for motion sensing if they didn't thing Nintendo was good competition?

Why are people comparing the wii to the wiiu like its the same thing, that's like saying the original Xbox is the same as the 360.
Trust if you like gaming go get a wiiu, you will not regret it. Don't get me wrong i still love my 360, but the wiiu is a step above it right now.
-
I still say the wiiu is clunky. It doesn't seem intuitive at all. I pretty much have no reason to get it, especially since I have my own entertainment system in my room.
-
Does WiiU have rainbow road?

Lol what is "clunky" and what is a entertainment system? Tv, surround sound? Sounds like a nice new wiiu would go nice with that ;)
-
My point still stands... Does wiiu, have rainbow road?

Clunky: the controls are hard to reach, over sized. I'm not interested in something the size of a notebook (the paper kind, not the computer kind).
Entertainment system: tv, PS3, laptop (PS3/laptop are connected to the tv via HDMI)

Your saying this without ever holding one, read the reviews even the nay Sayers said the game pad is surprisingly comfortable. And besides its only one of the remotes, there's the wiimotes and the pro controller that is the same as 360.

I'm saying this because I know my hands are small and don't have much reach. Even the 360 controller is uncomfortable, but I have to use it for certain games on the PC.

Costs money and I don't have the room/shelves.

o yeah and I sent this from my wiiu, gotta say i feel pretty special ;-)

Downloading data for update...

Hence why I mainly play on either PC or ps3.

Everyone wanted a furby when they hit the market here too and they were released the year before in Japan. Whats your point? Ever heard of a beta version or a test market?
Keep searching.. the question mark was after 2007 meaning not sure if that date was correct. the beta wii U was released in foriegn markets a few years before nov 2012. it failed miserably and was re-released 2012 in the USA. Not false info i'll have to dig up the info and post the thread. also wikipedia can be altered by users. I do not take stock in anything found on there. Also not 100% sure that it was originally released as wii U but it was the same thing they just re worked it based on the feed back. as I said i'll have to go search for the info. I myself am not a big gamer. however my jarhead friends are and that is where i first heard about it being previously released. If i'm wrong I fully appologize. if im correct then.....

Omg don't get me started on how slow the ps3 downloads things. 360 is still the best to rent movies and watch instantly.

It takes the same amount of time as my computer.

Wikipedia is a very credible source.. dismissing the info just because it came from Wikipedia..I'm not even gonna start on this one.
The wiiU is a very nice console. Anyone who is talking smack sounds like they have never played on one and are just speculating. It integrates your entertainment center and streamlines it. Its a great TV remote!
I urge you all to come to my place and we can play some nintendoland! If you said you had the worse time of your life I will leave you alone about it.
Don't knock it til you try it!

I'm basing my information off of a video that ashens did of it on youtube. He even timed how long it took for it to load/unload apps. Plus I've seen the specs on it and I'm not impressed.

Re: WiiU!
Nope. The novelty of the Wii was killed by the Kinect. Unless they start investing in quality graphics hardware Nintendo will remain in the kid and fanboy market. I will stick to my 360 probably until something truly better comes out.

That's exactly what the wiiU is.
-
I've seen videos of the ported games. They're pretty choppy. I can't link the video here (snarky, vulgar british guy, woo!), but for those who want to see it, pm me. It's about twenty minutes long, I think.

Watching YouTube videos for an opinion is all well and good, but I have all three. I wouldn't just say the wiiU is great if I thought it sucked. It does everything my Xbox and ps3 can do and ALOT more, it's not even a debate it just true. WiiU will be king for the next year until the 720 and ps4 come out.
-
Unlikely. 720/Ps4 are rumored to have something in them to prevent the usage of used games. I don't own a Wii, I don't have an interest in it. The same goes for the Wiiu.
-
That's the rumor, that would basically kill GameStop. Eventually consoles will be all digital down load and drop discs completely.
