    Interested in racks
I'm looking to get into breeding pythons and I would like inputs, references, and recommendations to cheap but quality rack systems. What I mean by cheap but quality is a good rack system for a decent price. I'm not looking for the top notch absolute best rack system. But one that is safe and gets the job done

This ^. I have three from them (Animal Plastics) & couldn't be happier. The quality is excellent as is their customer service. Their prices are competitive & well worth the price for what you get.

I have an RBI sweaterbox rack and an older style AP 32qt tub rack. Both are awesome!

You can expect to pay $100 for a slot in a rack for each adult ball python after flexwatt is installed, pricing seems to be pretty similar across most manufacturers.

I have a Boaphile "ball room" rack, and love it.

I have a couple of Boaphiles and a Vision rack.
I'm not happy with the Ballroom Rack at all :(

I think I'm going with Animal Plastics next.

I called AP because I was very interested in one of their racks. But the guy said it would take nearly 8 weeks to get my order (a 4 tub 41qt rack)! So I was looking into getting an RBI CB-70 rack for my adult females. Any luck with those?

They do take a little bit to receive. Seems like most are made to order. I think they do keep some more common sizes/configurations in stock, although I'm not positive...

That would be the one drawback with Animal Plastics, is the wait time. Not a huge issue for me but I could see how it might be for some. I can't help you on the RBI racks; never used one but Rich has been fine for customer service on other things I've bought from him/Reptile Basics. He's pretty good about communication/getting back to you if you e-mail him with any questions.

I shall! I'll be ordering the CB-70 one tomorrow. I may wait on the sweaterbox until closer to my birthday (my mother has expressed interest in buying me a new rack...and surely I can wait until April!). Plus, my male is only about 500g so he can still fit in a 28 qt tub (where he is now). With my new 1900g girl, I need something bigger for her. She's currently in a lone 41qt tub but I wanted to get a rack for her because it looks a lot prettier than a lone tub. I'll be sure to post the review and pictures of my new lady in her new home when it arrives.

You should take some pics to compare the tubs as well. I'm not happy with the 41q tubs. Haven't seen the cb70 in person but they seem way better.

Sure thing! I hear the CB-70 tubs are made from a thicker plastic. We'll see! Hopefully I'll get the new rack shorlty. I'm going to call RBI tomorrow and ask a question or two and then place my order. According to the website, they have some in stock that can ship in a couple of days. Worse case, it'll take 2-3 weeks. I'll be sure to post everything on this thread once it arrives.

I know, right? They are based in CA and I'm in Texas...it would cost me twice as much in gas, food, and hotel expenses than to just get two of the 3 tubs!

FedEx just delivered my racks! As soon as I get them opened and get some pictures, I'll add a review.

    RBI Rack Review (DUW)
I'll start by saying that I ordered a CB-70 rack and a Sweaterbox rack from Reptile Basics on Tuesday. With my order, I ordered some heat tape for my incubator and some snugger hides for my big normal girl. My racks and supplies were shipped on Wednesday and arrived via FedEx this morning (Saturday). That's a very fast turnaround time and shipping time! I was very impressed. I honestly thought I would be waiting a few weeks for my racks.

I moved the boxes into my bedroom where I keep my snakes, so pardon the clutter! First is the two boxes that the racks were shipped in. I went ahead and opened the hides and heat tape in the living room because someone in my family wanted the box for Christmas ornaments. Here's the racks:

    http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/2290/72691460.jpg

I opened the box on top and this is what I saw: The rack was very snug in the box, so there is no way it could have been moving while in transit. The foam squares in the corners made sure of that. The empty spaces on the sides were FULL of packing peanuts. I had no idea just how many were in there until I lifted the rack out of the box. I got packing peanuts EVERYWHERE and it took me a good while to pick them up. The box was well padded. Even though I would have liked the air pocket type of packing, this was functional and kept the box from moving.

    http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/8889/89622799.jpg

After pulling the rack out of the box and picking up the packing peanuts that escaped, I took a good look at the packing around the rack. The tubs were snug into the rack with the saran wrap stuff to hold the tubs in.

    http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4071/49764774.jpg

Once the saran wrap was removed, I inspected the racks. They are very sturdy and there were no scratches or chips from shipping. It looked perfect! Inside the first tub was the little pegs to keep the tubs from moving (pictured in another image) and instructions on the rack itself about how to clean it, regulate heat, etc.

    http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/6935/37382026.jpg

I removed the first tub to get a picture of the size of the tub and to examine heat tape. Here's a couple of pictures of the heat tape. The PVC is recessed so there's no way the racks can rub the tape. The end with the wiring is held down by foil tape. It looks well-put together.

    http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1346/34747917.jpg

    http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/7127/79599671.jpg

Now, I didn't go through the same process with the sweaterbox rack, but it was just as well packaged and equally as perfect as the CB-70 rack. Here's the two stacked together with the little tub pins to keep them from sliding out.

    http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/3630/49495760.jpg

As far as tubs are concerned, I LOVE the Iris tubs over Sterilite. Right now, my 2000g normal girl is in a lone 41 qt Sterilite tub. I bought the CB-70 rack for her and my two other girls when they get bigger. The Iris tubs are thicker and much more sturdy. Overall they are just a better quality tub. Here's the Iris tub first, followed by the tub that Tabitha is currently in.

    http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/5295/18251688.jpg

    http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/6489/36459062.jpg

The only thing about these racks that I don't like are the little pins are plastic and can easily pop off with enough force (force created by me tugging on it...not a snake trying to get out). I might replace those later if I can find something better. But overall I love the rack. It's build well and very sturdy. I have not plugged in the racks yet. My Herpstat 2 should be in today so once it's in I'll hook everyone up and try out the heat tape. But so far, I'm very satisfied!

    Damn that was fast!!

Would the iris tub fit in the 41q slot?

Thanks for the pics and write up.

Hm. I'm not sure. I just had the 41qt tub sitting out by itself.

    The CB-70 tub dimensions: 17 3/4"W x 33 1/2"L x 6"H
    The Sterilite 41qt tub dimensions: 34 7/8" L x 16 5/8" W x 6 1/8" H

So, I doubt it would fit. Even though the 41qt is taller and longer (which wouldn't be too much of a problem...you would just have a large air gap so you couldn't keep small snakes or babies in it), the CB-70 is wider so it might not fit in the slot.
