My new Volta WC is gravid!

We ultrasounded the other day and my new Volta WC has 46mm follicles! She should ovy any time now. I felt follicles in her a couple weeks ago. I counted 11 or 12. She wasn't holding still a lot for the ultrasound, so I didn't count them then. I'll update with an ovy pic when she ov's. :banana:

Volta/sub saharan ball pythons are a name for ball pythons that come from the region and are known to get huge. Ex the one above.

They're wild caught animals from a locale in Africa where they're known to get giant. In the 5-6 k gram range supposedly.

I hate to pick at semantics, but she is NOT gravid if she has not ovulated. She can still resorb follicles prior to ovulation instead of producing eggs. That being said, I wish you the best of luck with her.

You're absolutely right, Annarose15. I'm crossing fingers and doing the "gravid" rain dance... She's looking like she'll ovy any time now.

I'm not sure how many female babies I'll let go... don't really know what a going price would be.

They have found up to 8000 gram balls in the wild!!! I would absolutely love a 17 lb. ball python!

I have a 12+ lb girl......but she is a het Pied. Her kids get big quickly too. One of her Pied girls is around the 4K mark. Good luck with your girl and keep us posted on her progress. I'll be watching for another post with 15 eggs.

So this is last night. I'm not sure if it's ovy, cause she's so big... My camera's screen is broken, so it's tough to get decent pics....need to get it fixed soon.

Then this morning, she's got a bigger swell, but because of the angle, it's tough to see in the pic. She's been on the belly heat ever since last Saturday, so I'm questioning if I missed ovy... Either way, it's all great signs!

WooHoo!!!!! She laid!!! 7 good eggs, and 3 slugs! I thought she was reabsorbing them after I saw ovy, but she laid! She was only about 6 days overdue, so I'm stoked. Hoping for a new line of GHI, or blackhead, or banana, or something... You know, keeping my hopes low...lol. :banana::banana::banana::banana: :taz: :banana:

Grats man, my volta girl also laid last weekend, she was overdue as well. She laid 11 flawless fertile eggs :gj:. The offer to swap bloodlines still stands if your interested.

I ended up with 4.2 healthy little babies out of this clutch! Probably gonna put up 3 of the males for sale and possibly one of the females...
