Manny @ Perfect Predators - Reliable?
Alright guys - today is my second morning waiting on shipment from Perfect predators - Do not get me wrong here, I'm a patient guy and I will wait when needed with proper communication from a seller. I have barely heard from Manny after the transaction payment was finalized - make that I have received one phone call FULL of excuses, and one facebook message to give me my "tracking number" for last nights shipment. The Tracking number simply states that it was "Picked up at hub" in Miami.

Yesterday when Manny called, he informed me shipping temperatures were too cold and he had no warm boxes to use. When I made my purchase on Monday, he assured me that he would be perfectly ready to ship on Wednesday for Delivery Thursday - I advised him of weather conditions and he again assured me he's done this long enough to get the job done right and that as long as temperatures were above 30 in my area, he's ok and the box will be 75 inside when it arrives. . .

This morning, one call to voicemail. One email sent. One facebook message sent. No response from Manny. I'm going to allow him one more shipping day that I approve if I can get a hold of him. Then ask for a refund. There was a similar instance with similar excuses posted on the BOI a while back.

So this is potentially starting to become a new thing with Manny? Sad . . . he use to have such a great reputation...

http://www.fedex.com/Tracking?cntry_...%203642%204253 for full disclosure here is my tracking invoice he sent me yesterday assuring me I'd have my Sunglow this AM. If I end up going to the Fauna BOI with this I'll post all messages and screen shots of all phone call attempts. Just wanted to see if anyone else ordered from him this winter and is having issues like I am? Maybe I'm just a fluke . . .

    Cheers

Fed ex verified they still have a box at the pick up kiosk in Miami where it was dropped off last night. Manny called to let me know that Fed Ex failed to transfer the packages from the kiosk to the hub (not sure why manny did not use the hub to begin with .. . ). He was scared, worried for the animals, and apologetic. And offered to forward them for saturday delivery, but I explained I was not comfortable with the snake being in a box that long. That I would rather wait till next week with a new heat pack and rehydrated. . . will update again . ..

He texted me to let me know he had 7 boxes held at fed ex that did not move last night. All were OK and the snake were brought back to his facility to get warm and hydrated. He's going to attempt to ship again next week . . . starting to sound like a BOI horror tale like those posted, but yeah Manny seems to be on the ball, as of now I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt fedex really did drop the ball.

I noticed a lot of activity going on with them (BOGO sale, plain 50% off sale, etc) so between that and FedEx being FedEx he might really be having some troubles... Hope everything turns out alright!

Yeah, thats the only thing saving face right now is the fact that I know he's doing a lot of clearing out for next years inventory. He's been OK at communicating but definitely worse than a lot of people I have dealt with in these cases. We will see what happens either Tuesday or Thursday.

I've never shipped any animals before, but I really don't like FedEx. I avoid them even whenever possible. Too many bad experiences. Really hope everything works out!

Thanks, Shipment has been rescheduled for Thursday, Manny has sent me a direct line to him and has been in contact with me constantly to make sure that things smooth out since it was 2 issues in a row and poor communication to boot. So now instead of emailing and waiting if I have a question I get a direct response via Text. He's stepping up his game, but the ball has definitely been dropped. Will update on Wednesday night when shipping is scheduled, and on Thursday morning when the Sunglow arrives.

    Thanks

alright, so the sunglow did end up making it on our next scheduled shipment date. A lot of stuff has been going on about Manny on the BOI right now with him "stealing" someones boa, not sending payments, and with holding shipments or shipping wrong snakes. I will say this for those who are considering him.

He has some of the best snakes. He is kind of an elitist BUT in some aspects "deserves" the attitude he dishes out because his animals are worth the hassel. This sunglow is incredible in person and has a fantastic temperment and has taken his first meal already. He is busy, a lot, and this leads to poor communication, but he does what he can to make sure that you get your snake if you buy from him. Now, I would probably avoid doing any kind of business with him that did not involve a direct transaction - either buying or selling to him. But as long as you buy from him and pay, you will get your snake and it will look like what it's supposed to. However, don't let his genetic descriptions confuse you. He seems to play a lot on words calling things like "Snow Glow" which is basically just a hypo het anery het kahl albino. So he calls it a Snow Glow instead of a Hypo Het Snow, or Hypo Het Moonglow. He will also call things "Het Sunglow" and make you really think what he's calling it because he'll throw in things like Double Het Sunglow which is just a Hypo (salmon) Het Albino. So if you understand his genetics lingo for what they are, you will probably be fairly happy with what you end up getting. Buyer beware but don't be scared.

    Interesting....

He's accused, not proven but it's not looking real good, of selling snakes that aren't his and shipping wrong snakes if what I've gleaned from Fauna is accurate.

But since you got yours, all is well.

    heh

I'll just stop now, it's got to be about bedtime anyway, going on 6 here, and wait to see if he's really a scumbag thief or just a really busy guy. The truth generally comes out over on the BOI.

Wilomn - the issue with this case on the BOI is that in recent stories - Manny was not the bad guy he was made out to be. In the case of the stolen boa, I feel Manny was in the right for simply asking for the VPI back and he'd send the snake back instead of using it for the season. I don't forsee what the big issue is with a nice male squaretail for a breeding loan. But I'm not going to go on BOI blasting my thoughts because then I'd just get it from both sides saying its "biased". He showed messages where Jen specifically says "You keep him for next season??" in a very direct way in regards to the VPI. While the VPI itself was shady - no denying that - the transaction was legit on his side for the most part, and the other party should have not sold the VPI if she was going to back out of the deal. That's poor on her part.

I talked to Manny multiple times on the phone, and have his direct cell number to text him as needed. While some of his practices are of worry, I dont feel anyone that pays cash for a snake will not get the snake they pay for. However, if doing a trade or a breeding deal, I'd tread very cautiously. My report is a good report. Those with bad can speak bad. I was learly about things with him because of the missed shipment, but verified thte box WAS at fedex when the misship happened. So that was legit.
