lab block problem

hi all, i recently changed to lab blocks a few months back.. and i realized that the lab blocks are turning into powder at the bottom of the bag. is this happening to your blocks as well? or just mine? thanks!!

Happens to all rat block. You can minimize it. Don't throw the bag around and move it little as possible. The powder is created from the blocks rubbing together. Store the bag so the string to open it is on the bottom of the bag. When ready to open the bag, flip it over and open. Then the powder is kind of dispersed throughout the bag. If you raise Dubias, you can use the powder as food for them.

my partner takes it and puts it into a metal baking dish and adds some water to make it paste like and cooks it until it hardens and re-feeds it, no waste :)

Can you please post your partner's recipe?

How much water; ie: consistancy of paste? Temp of oven and how long? How thick is the paste in the pan?

Also, is it rock hard when done? Does he break it apart or can it be cut into squares?

It has an airtight seal so it should help keep the food fresh longer also.

Reforming them into biscuits sounds interesting, depending how much powder I have when it's empty I might try that.

Wow I dropped the ball on this one, I will ask him today when I talk to him and see what his "recipe" is ...

I pay 25 bucks for a 50 lb bag. I feel like maybe 1 dollar's worth tops is powder at the bottom. Move the bag less and use a scoop of some kind maybe?

I really like Jerry's idea though so I might give that a go just to have some fun with it. Maybe I will cookie cutter some shapes with it. Maybe I will add some kind of treat to the mix. Maybe I'll add some Ensure and bake it down and give it to the moms after they've had litters for added nutrition...

Those are great ideas.

I was told 125 degrees for 2 hours

I usually save it in a container and mix it with Ensure when I want to pop up a droopy mom.

Any other ideas?
