Emerald tree Ball(ish)?
This little thing has crossed my mind. I LOVE EMERALD TREE BOAS!!!! They are so vividly green!
A friend was telling me of the Congo Ball dominate trait, seemingly green/ish. So then we looked at the ball morph gallery and I spotted a really super nice bumble bee clown.
So he told me spinner is dual dominate, so surely I could dream big.
Thinking a (Congo x clown) x (pastel x spider). Repeated trying and great luck would produce a semi-believable morph at least, right?
IDK, but this seems almost like heaven in my mind, just hope the wheels not turning for nothing.

Maybe even just Congo x Spinner. The stripe would be more believable, just how to turn the black stripe white?
-
I dont think congo is green enough to even make me think anything close to ETB. Selectively breed for it though... who knows.
Then there is the white stripe......
-
Yeah. That was my last thought... How to turn the black to white while keeping the green....
Even if its not an "emerald" green, but muted as the congo is, it would still be an astounding morph to see one day....
After my dreamsicle i think i will definately play with it. I havent heard anyone messing with congo at all... Wonder why?

X2, I would love to see what would happen after 5 or 6 generations of selective breeding for the green, but not enough that I'm going to be the one to do it! I would skip the clown though if you are going to try for it, that would just add too much extra complication.

I would agree. Adding a spider dominate would work well, at least for a semi-believable stripe....
I have been thinking today about how to achieve the white stripe.... Possibly adding albino? Just to remove black pigment? Maybe even another recessive or possibly something else.
Another thought would just be to make a ball emerald tree hybrid. Weve done it with burmese angolan and blood. I kno etb's are diff, but this is an awesome morph we can get, jus seems noone is really interested. I never hear anyone messing with a congo...

Boa and a python, live bearing and egg bearing.... Chances of this working are next to zero
Albino would make the stripe white, would depend on what actually makes the green color if it would stay or just turn yellow. Chances are it will just look like an albino spider. Would also have red eyes.

Yeah, thats what I was sayin BP's and ETB's are different, but I would love soo much to see something like that lol.
Is there another gene that mutes or even replaces blacks that would not give the red eye color we could attempt? Wheres Bill Nye when you need him?

hypo morphs (hypo/ghost, fire, vanilla, ect.) reduce the black, but do not give the white you are looking for, black comes from melanin. albino removes it, hypo type morphs reduce it. problem is removing it also removes some other colors as well. I think they only color I have seen left over are red and yellow, so that seems to be about what we can do with albino.
so basically I'm saying with what we know, your kinda out of luck. I would advise you just get a ETB :)

Just read of a guy attempting a GTP BP hybrid. Thats more what I was thinking mentally, just with balls.
I have a great love for balls. They are my favorite snake, even though my first snake "baby" was a Burmese. *R.I.P.*
They are so beautiful, and the ability to have a powerful snake, small package, and even temper, really makes them worth it!
I will try and find out if I can think of something, maybe just the green and aberrant black I guess would be best for now :(

GTP - Green Tree Python
There no known reason why you can't make a ball/blood/carpet/burmese/gtp/*insert any other python* hybrid, they are all pythons, you in theory should also be able to make a bci/sand/viper/dumeril/atb/etb hybrid they are all boas.
as for making a python/boa hybrid, its almost impossible to get fertile eggs, you have biology against you.
-
Everything I've ever read about GTP hybrids has been that it takes a good few generations to get anything near green again (a GTP Ball would probably still be in the brown spectrum colour wise) and even then, you've gone more Chondro than Ball so honestly, kind of loses the appeal that I find in hybrids.
As for a truly green BP, I really don't we could ever get that through natural breedings. I don't think they've just got the DNA to make that colour and no mutation will probably ever arise that will quite replicate it. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong though if someone could provide a credible source.

Yeah. I just wanna cry. Its just something new Ive not heard of....
