New camera, pictures!
I got a new camera for Christmas, and I love it! Haven't had a chance for any light tent photos yet (but believe me I will as soon as I have time!). I haven't even messed around with any manuel settings. But these pictures I took in "auto" mode, just blow my old point and shoot away. It's my first DSLR, so I have a lot to learn, but I love taking pictures so its going to be fun! Eventually I would like to get a few more lenses, and another flash for it, this camera has so much potential. My internet at home is slow as molasses, so hopefully the pictures don't lose any quality being posted via tapatalk. Here are just a few...

Lol, yeah. I didn't notice till after the fact. And since he wasn't letting me any closer unless he was having a bite of my camera, that was it for now. He is just a champ eater, and always looking for more...
Thanks guys, I'm really loving this camera. Too bad yesterday was feed day, or there would be much more pictures!

Why thank you! And those are just messing around. I can't wait to actually spend some time with them in the tent, and experimenting with the camera.

Been looking all I have now is a Kodak point and shoot one now an the charger is so small noone has it it's weird I'm gonna check again today. I used to have a SLR that I took black and white film pictures with it was nice an lots of different lenses I had fun with that but my apartment got robbed an that was one of things taken

Ok, so with any luck, I will get some light tent pictures this weekend. I think my albino is in shed, she looks so different, gotta get used to her. My bee just shed, most everybody just ate. So after I get all my Christmas stuff down and away, time in the light tent with snakeys!! I can't wait...:D

What wonderful animals. I love them all. I played around with my camera today. My boyfriend was telling me about the different lenses I can get. One that is interesting to me is a macro lens. But they can be so expensive and I really have no clue on how I'd choose one of those. There's so many different types. I was taking pics of cats, trees lizards. It's amazing after you get a memory card how fun it is to take pics of everything ;). Back on topic your new albino is awesome. In the pic she doesn't really look in shed. But she is dark. So who knows.

Thank you! Yeah, she has pink belly. A macro lense is on my list, they can be very expensive it looks like. But the pictures just blow my mind. I printed off some of mine today that I took yesterday and they were awesome. :). You should get some of yours done! I think you will be very happy with them!

Whatever you do, don't go with a canon brand lens for macro, Tokina has an excellent reputation and at half the cost it's a steal. I was looking at their 105mm macro earlier, and can't find a bad word about them. A few suggestions: Tape/elastic band a piece of a milk jug over your flash, and it'll work as a diffuser to cut down on sharp shadows/lines defining them. Works awesome in a light tent, way cheaper than buying a bigger flash/diffuser, and if you play around with manual mode, here's a few fundamentals:
Aperture (f/X.X; aka F-stop): is what determines Depth of Field, or how much of the picture is in focus. One of the three components of the "Exposure Triangle).
Shutter Speed (X/XXX): is well, how fast the shutter opens and closes, exposing the camera's sensor to the image.
ISO/Film Speed (200,400, etc.): Is how sensitive the camera's sensor is to light, the higher the number, the more sensitive. The higher ISO you set though, the more noise that you get in the photo, which are little off-color pixels in the picture which make it look sort of fuzzy.
All three of these things contribute to what is called the exposure triangle. You combine how far open the aperture is, with how long the sensor is exposed, and how sensitive the sensor is to light and you get the exposure of an image. A picture that is underexposed is generally dark, and overexposed images are usually very bright/white and lack contrast. If you use Canon's editing software which you should have gotten with the camera, you can tweak the exposure more or less.

Here's an example my boyfriend showed me of aperture using my new camera ;)
