Gently but firmly grab his neck to subdue him and then take out the rat with your other hand. How big is he?

Not huge.... And rotting is the incorrect term. It is sticky it was there less than 24 hours.....

Ok I tried to wedge my snake hook where the rat was to try and get it out as the snake took its fist sign of eating. It didn't let go instead it reconstructed. Damn this is a mess

I read that you can pour rubbing alcohol on it. Can anyone verify?

Just reach in and grab the snake and grab the rat out like i said.

So right now the snake is still coiled on the rat, and recoiling when you try to interfere?
Don't put alcohol on it, if the snake ends up ingesting it it would cause way more problems than a rotten rat.

If he eats it, hopefully he will regurgitate it if it if too spoiled, and you cn give him some restng time.
I've had a cornsnake (way back when I didn't know anything about snake care) that ate a day- old mouse off the groung outside that the cat had killed, the snake was fine. The snake should be able to tell to some extent if the rat is good to ea or not...

I gotta agree with mike. I wouldnt have hesitated if I didnt want it to eat it my first thought would be to treat it like taking eggs off a new mom. glove up and go in, grab the snake and take the prize.
