molested has 2 meanings actually 1.To disturb, interfere with, or annoy 2.To subject to unwanted or improper sexual activity. Thats the end of that lesson kids.

I think his avatar was meant as abrasive sense of humor :)
I am sure he didn't mean to offend anyone.
I am a Christian also, but still found it amusing:)

well i am a Christian, however i could care less what someone's avatar says. :)

but the more i think about it, the more it could be taken offensively.

I'm Christian, too....but I figure the world would be an awfully depressing and stressful place if I decided to take offense at every little thing. I'd rather see the humor, so long as it's not too serious an offense. I think the avatar is funny.

first of all, it shouldn't be taken offensively. If someone had a picture of the man made image of lucipher or a 666 people would wanna take offense to that too. Why? You know what your religion is and what other people have to say about it shouldn't matter. And honestly i don't think announcing your religion like that isn't very funny even if it was abrasive humor. I think religion is something that should be kept private when it comes to a forum such as this. I dont' mean to offend anyone with this or change their views of me, but its just my two cents. And its only an opinion. Im open to disagreement as you all should be too

Haha I am at the buckle of the Bible belt and we see stuff like that all the time - I personally think it's funny it's not really blaspheme or anything - it's just poking fun at the terms we use... another favorite of mine is...
I found jesus. he was behind the couch the whole time. (Just a play on the words we use i.e. "finding" Jesus)

At www.tshirthell.com there is a tshirt. the front says "There are two people f***"ing on the back of my tshirt" and on the back it says "Just kidding...believe in jesus" and a big picture of jesus luaghing and pointing at you like ha ha, i got you. LMAO, now thats funny

Yeah, Jonah, I've always enjoyed "Jesus saves sinners ...
and redeems them for valuable prizes," like they were Green Stamps! (Am I showing my age again?)

    One of my favs is:

Gretzky collects the rebound and scores!

    A little hockey humor

I don't think my religion should be any more private than the fact that I have freckles or am married and have kids, or whatnot. It's just who I am, nothing more and nothing less. If it seems relevant to the current discussion and that discussion isn't off-topic for the forum it is in...then I don't see why I should take pains to keep something about myself a secret. I'm not starting threads trying to convert anyone or anything. :P

you have a good point judy, but where im from whenever religion gets brought up it starts a huge argument on what is what and its not cool. Thats why i just keep my religion to myself
  • 04-22-2004, 06:47 PM
    JLC
Well, it certainly can be a provacative subject, and hopefully one that won't get started here. If I wanted to argue the merits of my religion, there are plenty of other places I could go to do so. I don't want to see the peace of our forums disrupted by such an argument. Hopefully though, we're all grown up enough to mention the word "Christianity" and not have it turn into some free-for-all brawl about who's right and who's wrong.

Justin, I'm with you. Politics and religion have a lot of potential for turning civil situations into free-for-alls, and I'd hate to see that happen here. There are other places that are really good for getting into that sort of debate. I am 100% certain hat I will not see eye to eye with everyone here on politics, religion, priorities, and "the way things ought to be," so I just avoid it here where it doesn't seem appropriate.

Well i do have a sense of humor and sorry i misunderstood yours. As far as my avatar i didn't like the low quality pics of sage i was using so i used the first one that seemed funny from deviant art seriously its alright but I'm not rolling on the floor when i get some good pics of Schurke i will use that i love his pattern sorry if it offended anyone i am Christian too but i don't practice it that much so I'm a little lax on the subject.

    lol!

I think that, online, it is often hard to tell whether someone says something in jest, or they're serious about it. When you're talking face to face, you can see a person's subtle signs of joking, like a smirk, or a giggle. But online you have just words.
...Funny hijacked thread we have here. :)

    I think:
Talking about BPs, pets in general, experiences with them= good
Talking politics, religion, and our opinions on Michael Jackson = bad
    :D

Jesus walks into a motel, throws three nails on the desk & says to the inn keeper, can you put me up for the nite??

This is really not the time nor the place, IMHO, to be taking discussions on politics or religion seriously. We are here for our common love of reptiles & we have a wonderfully peaceful co-existence. Like Jonah said in his 5am hippy post a while back, the beauty of what we have here is that regardless of our religious beliefs, political views or any of the other things we may disagree on in life, we are all good to each other, we all help each other & we all support each other on the basis of our love for herps. I'm a registered republican with a moderate point of view that is slightly scewed to the conservative side. I am also a Christian that has a wonderful relationship with God. Though I don't think politics & religion should be taken so seriously on this board, like Judy said, that is no reason to try to pretend that you are not Christian or Republican or anything else. That is not what we are here about, we are here to chat about the one thing we all DEFINATELY have in common, herps! :D
