    Choosing a Name
Do any of you have a hard time picking a name for a snake?

I've had my Mystic female since the beginning of October and have yet to name her.

My enchi I have had since September is still nameless. :( We have gotten two snakes since then, which both of them have names.

I used to have a hard time. I solved the naming problem though. I use pre assigned abreviations and numbers for multiples of the same type.

Naming can be very hard. I have a corn snake that I've had since August and I kept calling her FNU (fa-new...as in first name unknown) and then eventually I just started calling her FNU all the time and now it stuck. I recently declared that be her name. Good luck naming her!

It took me about a week to name my Cinny. I just spend time with them and look at their patterns, colors and personality. I was looking through posts on here and saw a snake named 'Isis' and BOOM it hit me. Serenity is her name. No idea where that came from but it fits and I'm happy :P

Once I had acquired multiple snakes, and knew more would eventually join the collection, I decided to pick themes... most of my Ball Pythons now have Shakespearean names (Juliet, Orlando, Rosalind, Cordelia, etc), while the Colubrids and other pythons mostly have names from children's books & movies (Scout, Wednesday, James, Charlotte, etc). Sometimes I'll go off the theme if a perfect name comes up, but otherwise I just pick one from the respective theme!

P.S. I'm a librarian and one of my degrees is in English Lit, so that's why I went with literary names. ;)

Their names just kind of come. Bobba Fett and Shayla had previous homes yet I kept their names.

Avalon, Weedle and Satyana were names I had in mind.

I name mine based on any number of things, depending on what is on my mind at the moment. For instance: Shy Ronnie, after an Andy Samberg skit. Paula Deen, my pastel butter, Mudpuppy Dirtdiver, my mojave yellowbelly, Johnny Cash and June Carter, my 1.1 pair of black pastel het axanthics, Moose, my Sub Saharan giant who weighed a whopping 49 grams when I got her. Mickey Free, after one of the Chiricahua Apaches who served with the U.S. Calvary during the Apache Wars in Arizona. I don't have any particular theme to my naming, just whatever seems to suit them. Good luck with your naming.

I tend to stick with mythology and ancient cultural names...I am a huge history buff....or I go with constellations....or favorite tv show/movie characters....I take my time though see what the new addition is like...

I have over 100 snakes and all of them, except the ones I'm selling, have names. They are all named out of the Bible. Since snakes got a bad rap in Genesis, I decided to do my part to turn things around.

A butter named Paula Deen, freaking awesome! One of the vet techs at our exotic vet has one of those micro pigs which he named Rachael Ray (slightly mean, but also kind of funny).

    It Depends..
Sometimes they pop into my head- BAM!!- like my salmon redtail boa, Four and my newest normal ball, marcus.. Or sometimes it takes a while like my baby corns London & Italy which I just recently named after having them for a month and a half. My friend suggested David The Cane Man and I loved it!
You could name your Mistic Magic, Stella, Luna..
I'd go with an unusual, mysterious name.

Well I was just about to get on here and talk about what a hard time I've had picking out names for my soon-to-be snakes but they've all just come to me! Ha ha! I love it when that happens...I did have one snake that was particularly hard to name. In fact, I changed his name like a year later. He started out being Mr. Noodle - keeping with the Sesame Street theme but it just didn't fit. He was feisty so I started looking up names. I found a name that meant "joyous" which was completely opposite of his personality and thus Ranen got his final name!
