Torn between two animals!
Okay. I'm totally torn between a Russian Tortoise or a Red Italian Leatherback Bearded Dragon. The pro for the RT are a relatively smaller size & the con is that its a lot of money upfront. The BD pros are that its a lot less upfront, they're very social & are simple to care for, the only con is that I'm running low on space in my room. My parents keep badgering me for what I want for Christmas so I'm thinking a 360, an RT or BD, & possibly a snake rack. If I go with the BD it's a lot better on them financially which I like. Also, as you can see the BD has more cons than the RT. Please give me your opinions before too long!

Ive never really interacted with a beardy or tortoise lol. I like the look of beardies though. they seem friendly with cool personalities. Id go for the snake rack... And some snakes to fill it lol!

I like the idea Mike but the rack alone will probably cost 200 big ones, & then however much per snake I want. If I were to go this route, what rack & what snakes would you put in it? I've got two balls already, so I'm thinking of getting a 4 slot rack. Throw me some morphs!

tortoises are beyond cute

I say rack as well. You can always get a bd or tort later on. This way you'll have a couple or more slots for more snakes. Yellow bellies are pretty cheap these days. Orange hypos too.

beards poop alot and it stinks so dam bad

A rack and a lesser. ;) Or a pinstripe. BELs and/or jigsaws would then be in your future.

I used to be so in to BELs now I'm just like "meh." So I think I'll try and get a female pinstripe, make some jigsaws in a few years. What rack do you recommend? Good breeder?

for a rack it depends on budget but for you with only a few animals....AP or reptile basics
-
dragons can be expensive to feed. I found out the hard way I had a lil one & it was costing me $30 a week in crickets. just my .02 worth.

Reptile Basics Sweaterbox rack for sure. For morphs id look at a female pin, black pastel, lesser/butter, fire etc.

I would go with a snake rack and snakes. Just one BD requires more upkeep than a 7 snake rack IMO. Not to mention cleaning, feeding salad, insects, supplements, keeping the insects alive, heat, uvb, baths, etc, etc.

I'd go rack. Idk about a tortoise. Beardies have personality, but they eat a lot, they poop a lot, and it reaks. Personally I would stick with snakes.

I think I've reached a decision. I'm probably gonna gonna with a rack system, & two females, one for my normal who's probably ready to breed & one for my mojo who will be in about a year and a half. Now to find a morph for both snakes that aren't outrageous, I'm thinking of getting a pinstripe for the mojo & a spider or spinner for the normal.

That sounds like a plan. :gj: AP or Reptile Basics are both good for racks. I personally am really fond of Boaphile's RhinoRaxx, but dealing with Jeff can be a little frustrating as his communication skills suck. CSSerpents also makes some very nice racks. I've seen them at the last couple of shows here in Florida and I am considering getting one of theirs in the future.
As to the snakes, I had an amazing experience ordering from Garrick DeMeyer at royalconstrictordesigns.com. If he had them, I'd definitely suggest him. Although, any of those guys with ads on the left side of the home page are good. :)

I like it! Probably gonna go through reptile basics, & who knows where I'll get the snakes!
