She loved me so much, she kissed me!!!!!

    http://img15.photobucket.com/albums/...k/burmbite.jpg

I went to a local rep. shop today, and wanted to handle the baby albino burm. She was REALLY defensive, and gave me plenty of warning before she finally tagged me. She let go after about five minutes, and a dip in a goldfish tank. She even left me a souveneir in my wrist. I pulled out a tiny tooth! It's so small, I don't even know if my camera would focus on it, so I haven't tried to take a pic of it.

    Moral of the story......

    I'll be getting a burm.......soon.

    LOL! LOVE your topic title!

How big was the baby? You plan on buying her in particular? Or just any ol' burm now that you've been bit by the love bug??? :P

I was planning on getting her, but after talking it over with the wife, we decided a male would better suit us. The wife likes normals, I like albinos, so I don't know which we will get yet. There is one of each up for adoption at the local herp rescue, but they are both adults. I like to raise mine from babies.
I'll go back to that store tomorrow morning and see what they will do for me with ordering a male.....if not, I'll do a rescue.

I would definitely want to raise my burm from a baby....most especially if its my first giant snake. Albino or not. I lean toward normals, myself...but fell totally in love with this sweet 7' albino/labyrinth female at a herp show a few months ago. Wished like crazy I could have brought her home!

And keep in mind that Rusty has a SEVENTEEN foot male!!! Being male is no guarantee that it'll stay smaller! LOL!

    LOL I love that rationale.
Did it hurt much when she bit you? I have been bitten by garters and bps before, but nothing ever that big.

If you have ever fell down in a sticker patch, that was pretty much what it felt like.....except when she was trying to disengage, and was tearing the skin. That hurt a little bit more. Her head was a little bit bigger than my largest female BP's head, so the bite was probably comparable to an adult bp bite.
I figure it was a small price to pay for the results it produced. My wife let me order a normal male this morning. Hopefully it will only take them a couple weeks to get it.
I'll be sure and let you know when he arrives! :D :D :D :D

By the way....I think "Fezzik" would be an awesome name for a normal male burm. Huge, dark, and simple-minded. :D

Good luck with him when you get him. I am so jelous it not even funny. I want a Burm so bad. But the wife will not let me have on until our son is alot older and we get a bigger place. I can understand completly. Would love to see some pics when you get him.

    Yup, my first Giant.
I kinda like Fezzik! Or even Andre! I probably won't settle on a name until I get him home, so keep throwing out ideas.
The wife wasn't thrilled with my suggestion of "Wendell." :D
    I am also considering "Kitty."

Now the whole body of my boy
    Congrats Randy!!
A love bite is the first thing my Indian gave me too. She still loves to "kiss" me. But it is expected. Burmese pythons (sometimes) will be nippy for a while, then hopefully the rational comes to there minds once they hit a certain size, they just say "screw it, I could eat that human if I really wanted to, whats the point in kissing it now"..lol
Ok the above statement is not true, and Rusty Reptiles will not be held responsible for any actions there of...
Hehe, can't wait to see pictures!

I think going with a baby was a very good choice. I'm psyched for ya. I think Freddy would be a good name for him. :)

    Randy,

    Congrats on the incoming newbie.

I'm not sure if you'd be interested or not, but I believe the Colorado Repitle Humane Society has an albino burm for adoption. It's not a baby, but it's a beauty.

    Here's the link to it:

I seriously considered getting a burm from them, Marcus, but decided for my first, I want to start with a baby. Once I have some experience with a larger one, I may snag one from CRHS. If I couldn't get a baby from this local store, CRHS was my next stop!

Wow, congrats on getting the burm. I am workin' on convincing the boyfriend that a burm would be cool, maybe in a few years. he is just leary about anything that could eat our cat, but of course the snake would be in a locked room!

Congrats bro! Saw a couple of the albino burms at one of our local stores hissing and striking up a storm lately? Is that left side of your wrist where the bottom jaw was? What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? You've given me the courage to post the results of the nice kiss Kali gave me the day she arrived.

That's a neat Burm they have up for adoption. I'd also be tempted to adopt one of their bci's if I was not all the way out here in NY.

My permission was rescinded yesterday, after my wife decided she didn't want to have to help me handle him when he got big. Damn wishy-washy women!
