Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
-

I see pewter. Sterlings tend to have more of a washed out pattern and a lighter head.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
Wow, I was sold this snake as a sterling
-
I think it might be a Pewter too. Here is a pic of my Sterling for comparison:

Sorry, but definitely a pewter.

I would contact the seller and ask for a refund or an actual sterling. Also, double check the seller on the BOI to make sure he/she hasn't done this to someone else. If they don't try to make the situation right, make a thread on the BOI to make others aware of this seller.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
I paid 850 for this snake :(
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
I am so sorry. :O That has to suck majorly. I can't even imagine. How much do Pewters go for? 400?
-
I paid $300 for my pewter
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
I've seen them go from 300-400
-
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
Oh jeeze that sucks. Contact the seller and see what they say, if they won't refund you be sure to post everywhere you can about your experience and hopefully the threat to their reputation (if they care) will make them consider it more. Also I'm not sure, but if you paid with anything other than cash you make be able to contact your credit card company or paypal and have them refund the money if you can show you've asked for one and been refused.
Good luck and keep us posted!
-
I see a pewter. I think i mentioned that in your collection thread this morning. Either the seller made a mistake or tried to take advantage of you. Either way, he owes you an explanation and should try and make the situation right.
-
-
Definitely contact the seller.. Sorry for that. You definitely should get what you paid for.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
I'm just going to sell him, as a pewter doesn't fit into my breeding.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
Just out of curiosity, but how come he doesn't fit into your breeding but a sterling does? Pewter is a pastel cinnamon and a sterling is a super pastel cinnamon...the only difference is one pastel gene.
I mean, I guess I know you wanted all your babies to be at least pastels and with a pewter you can get some normals.
Did you contact the person you bought him form? I would try to get your money back from him/her then you're not out $400.
-
what would u do ?
Why Would you intentionally sell or trade that snake to someone as a STERLING now ?
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
He in turn, just traded me that snake as a STERLING, after knowing that it is a pewter. Shouldnt he make this right ?? I have tried contacting him, but to no avail. I am giving him the chance to send me another snake to make up the difference, or a postal money order. I traded him a 890 gram Yellow belly female for the snake trusting it was a sterling as he said.

I think they meant they're just going to sell it as a Pewter to get it off their hands, not try and sell it as a Sterling to someone else to remake their money.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
suntiger retics, can you explain to me and everyone why you traded me a pewter, when you told me it was infact a sterling ??? will u make this right and send me another snake to make up the difference ? or a postal money order ?? i traded you an almost 900 gram female yellow belly for that (PEWTER) when u told me it was a sterling. Can u make this right ????????
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
he knew it was a pewter. People on this forum told him that. I traded him an almost 900 gram female yellowbelly for the STERLING that he told me it was. Come to find out, its a pewter. Theres aBIG price difference there. Dont u think he should make up for the difference ?? make it right ? a fair even trade ? send me another snake or postal money order to make up the difference ?? thats only the fair/right thing to do.

ARE YOU FOR SERIOUS?!?! That is such a bad move. That dude has been irking me for a while now and that's just icing on the cake. It's people like him that make the world a crappy place to live. SUPERTIGER RETICS, if your out there, be a decent person, make this right and smarten up. It's for the good of the hobby. This hobby is under enough stress now, and the last thing we have time for is dishonestly and deceit. Grow a pair!

I would suggest that you to start a new thread in the inquiry feedback forum http://ball-pythons.net/forums/forum...iries-Feedback, putting a linl to this thread into your new one also try to provide as much details about the transaction as possible (emails, text, pics etc), any exchange that might be relevant.
I would also suggest to start a thread on the BOI http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...splay.php?f=13
If you were sold this as a sterling you are entitled to get your money back there is absolutely no excuse for what he did especially after the snake was correctly identified here.
Good luck.
-
Oh no :( that is just really terrible! I hope you get this straightened out!!

It was in November or December last time he posted here. He posts on this site fairly frequently. He may not now for fear of being attacked tho.

Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
I'd suggest labeling your ad for a pewter instead of trying to pass him off as a sterling. That pewter is not worth 1k.

Since both ads by both users are mislabeled all ads will be withdrawn and ad permisions withdrawn until some kind of clarification has been reached.

Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
He hasnt emailed me, called, or anything !! i just want him to make this right, send me another snake to make up the difference, or send me a postal money order. All of you guys can see that its a sterling, im sorry i trusted him. He cant say it was a mistake, because he traded it to me as a STERLING (AFTER) being told it was infact a pewter. Thats wrong, plain wrong.
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
ive sent him like 3 private messages here asking him to fix this, make it right, no answer. Can u guys send him a message as well please ? its just not fair at all. Alls i want is a fair trade or the difference paid. He can send me another snake, or a postal money order.

You might want to lose the victim act yes he is not innocent either he is indeed selling this pewter as a sterling however so were you, you advertise that pewter right here on this forum before it was pulled and additionally you have been quite busy yourself
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...d.php?t=379442
Care to explain?
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
ill explain that every issue i had was years ago. My past that i made mistakes and paid for them. Thats what i can do. and i advertized it as a sterling before researching this forum and noticed his adds and the details about the pewter that it really was. Is that good enough for u ????

Oh please you have been around how long? Looks to me that your past is not too far, since when people who try to redeem themselves reinvent their ID and use a complete different name?
You posted your ad at 5.46 and called him out at 7.23 I will assume when you realized you were duped you immediately contacted one of our staff member so they could pull your ad immediately right? (after all you send PM to the OP why not the staff?)
Also care to explain why at 8.40 ish more than an hour after supposedly discovering it was a pewter and not a sterling you still answered inquiries as if the animal was a sterling.........what does that make you?
I also wonder if it wasn't for being called out yourself, would you have come clean about YOUR ad and request to have it pulled?
You are both as guilty in my book what's the saying again? The pot calling the kettle black

Wait....so supertiger got scammed by an unknown breeder, and then in turn scammed a scammer...and now said scammer is demanding compensation for being scammed by a scammed person...
Damn, this is better than Jerry Springer. as the plot thickens...

Ruh roh raggy. I believe that's a bannable offense isn't Deborah? Make threats to people? Maybe I'm wrong.
In all seriousness, this cluster of a deal is sad. So many people scamming other people, etc. Whoever sold the snake to supertiger as a scammer, supertiger scammed someone else, and ilovevenom/marty/david/whatever got screwed, but screwed other people at the same time (backing out of a solid trade deal, not to mention the monster of a wrapsheet from before).
I'd be interested in hearing who the initial breeder was who sold the snake as a sterling so I can go ahead and add them to my ever-growing-very-saddening blacklist.
Edit: oh well, after rereading the infraction system, I guess it's just a possible 50pt infraction. My bad!

Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
This is why I like reptile expos with reputable breeders whose bread and butter are the satisfaction of their customers.
Some of those are way out of my price range since I have no plans to become a serious breeder.
PS Rosy have you resolved that yawning thing with your boa?

If you're asking me, I have to say I don't have a boa. There are others on here that have "rose" in their name, perhaps it is one of them? Sorry :-/

Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
My mistake.
I couldn't find the thread that was brought up in either.
Well either way, I hope everyone is having either healthy animals or quick resolutions to any issues that pop up.
These dishonest dealings just brought to mind those that get doubly scammed and end up with more of a rescue than purchasing a pet,
As shady as these two :soapbx: seem to be atleast health of the animals doesn't seem to have been compromised.

Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
Mr. Huffman please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jesus Blackman and you were traded my sterling ball for a female yellow belly. Now that I'm done with the formalities, if you bring any drama to my home, where my children live, you won't make it back to Virginia. Now let's talk like men, as I haven't read any emails from you. Let me direct you to this ad on fauna http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...light=Sterling
Looks exactly like the sterling that was sent to you right......I had some questions of my own about that sterling male and bought them up to this community. Several people said it looked like a pewter.......But after Googling "sterling ball python", looking at hundreds of photos of them, AND after seeing a pewter ball in the flesh....That male is a sterling.....He may not be the best looking sterling, but he's a sterling none the less. That snake was traded to me by a dear friend and well know person in this hobby, Matthew Miller.....A person whos rep far exceeds your own, and a person who would dirty his name, his business, or our friendship.....One need only do a BOI search of him to know his character, as well as yours. Matthew Miller gave me his word that that male is indeed a sterling as shown in the screenshot below from our FB convo. Matt stands 100% behind that sterling's genetics, and so will I.

Yet your thread is titled "Sterling or Pewter?" that would mean you have doubts?
And yet again you decide to sell him even though he is a sterling and as a sterling he was fitting your plans. :confuzd:
-
Re: Sterling ball or Pewter Ball
Enrique is a local friend/partner. I'm used to keeping and breeding retics, and know nothing about keeping and breeding balls. So I did what any normal noob would do, and that's find a breeder or person who lives close, and learn from them how to work with a animal you want to keep or breed. You will also see that this thread was started before Mr. Miller sent that message to me. So it goes like this: I posted pix of my sterling male, several people said it looked like a pewter, I sent a message to Mr. Miller explaining this, Mr. Miller in turn sent that message to me guaranteeing the snake was a sterling and that he guarantees the genetics of the animal, knowing Mr. Miller's reputation in the reptile hobby and business I take his word fully, the male sterling was then traded for a yellow belly as I want to work with the yellow belly, specter, and spot nose genes. The male sterling was only traded to me by Mr. Miller because I was moving into a new house and didn't have to space required to house my 18ft. retic and was never apart of my breeding plans to begin with
