Christmas favorites??
So what is your favorite Christmas special (tv show/movie)? Christmas song? Christmas treat or food?
My fav special, hmm. Don't think I can pick one. It's a Wonderful Life, Rudolph, The Grinch (orignal Suess, not Jim Carey version), The Year Without A Santa Claus.
Favorite song, (again I love Christmas music and have lots of favs) but hands down most favorite is Martina McBride's accapella (sp?) version of O Holy Night.
Fav food, my grandmas cookies. She makes the best Pinwheels. :)

Once you get to the song - David Phelps does an amazing job with this song. Another favorite is White Christmas by the Drifters.

Hmmm... this is a tough one but I think I would have to go with Rudolph or The Grinch (the cartoon version).

Haven't gone without watching one of the Home Alone movies every year. And I go insane over a special Pastel de Tres Leches (3 Milk Cake) my mom always makes.

Candy canes!!! And just all the food. Leftovers for a week.:gj:
-
Song: Definitely the Bowie/Crosby drummer boy duet
Movie: pretty much any of those stop-motion specials, but I especially love the one with heat meiser and cold meiser.

Just got a recipe for making chocolate peanut butter oreo bark, I cannot wait to try it! And my grandmother makes rømmegrøt every year (Norwegian pudding/porridge stuff) and it's a highlight for me. Takes -forever- to make it.
I'm a little christmas'ed out after living with a highly materialistic and christmas obsessed step mother, and not a big fan of the music (it started before thanksgiving this year, my head nearly exploded), but I try to focus on the good food and fun with family and friends rather than worry about going all out on decorations, getting into the spirit, etc. Maybe someday I can get excited about it again, I do have a goal this year to do a Super Mario Bros themed christmas tree. And I am looking forward to making things, too broke to buy presents this year  At least my boyfriend is getting a new knee though!
-
Song: i hate christmas music.
Movie: home alone movies and cartoon how the grinch stole christmas.
Food: lasagna and all the seafood! Also that peppermint bark stuff is amazing. I could eat like 50 tins of that crap.

Also a favorite, but I go postal for that pudding :D
I've also dodged the red vest tradition thus far, though they put a wreath of candles on my head once when I was small, haha

I'll post it up here if it works out! Maybe I should make BP.net christmas bags and send them to anyone wanting to try it out :D (already trying to come up with herp themed christmas cards :rolleye2: )

That recipe seems really easy doolittle. Whats peppermint flavoring though?
VP: that'd be awesome! Id totally trade you something for a tin of your bark! Im not sure if i can make anything that'd be able to be shipped that far without spoiling though. :/

Peppermint extract. On the baking isle, like liquid flavor.

Re: Christmas favorites??
Well for favorite Chrismas movie or TV shows (traditional)
Its a Wonderful Life, Rudolph, Miracle on 34th Street (the original in B&W), A Christmas Carol (again the original)
For non traditional have to go with Diehard, (trust me it's a Christmas movie) or Nightmare Before Christmas (can go either way with this one)
Favorite song
I like the Bowie/Crosby version of Drummer Boy, Groban's - Oh Holy Night, and Bare Naked Ladies w/Sarah Mclachan - God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman. The Pogues Fairy Tale in New York is just plain awesome.
Food
Honey Baked Ham and homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies.
-
Songs it has to be the Little Drummer Boy , We Three kings and Sing Noel Noulvelet
-
I'm kind of tired of the music already but I have always liked We Three Kings and just about anything by the Trans Siberian Orchestra..
Carol of the bells..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLNhxKldCf0&sns=em
Movie is probably A Christmas Story.
Food would have to be my own home made Greek style leg of lamb with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Then my Ambrosia fruit salad from my moms recipe that I grew up on.
