    spider wobble
I am looking at getting a spider my question is this. If the female has a wobble will it for certain always be passed on in its genetics?

    thanks

I thought some spiders an snakes with spider gene don't wobble or wobble just a little while others have a very bad wobble and it shows up worse when they are excited or overly stimulated.

really? could you fill me in a little bit more? Is there certain degrees of the wobble? less or more? is it genetic? I would like to know as much about this as possible thank you

It doesn't bother me so much. My bee has a slight wobble before striking df rats. She's my best feeder and is fine in every other way.

that was my next question.....if a spider has a wobble and it isnt very very drastic does it hurt the sale point of view?

As Ed said, all spiders wobble. The degree varies, as does when it expresses over the course of the snake's life (some will get better as they age, some worse). The wobble is inextricably linked to the spider gene.

There are dozens (or more) of threads discussing this topic: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...stel-or-Spider

Unless the wobble is extremely severe (which I believe is rare). The biggest factor that will affect it's sale, is it's looks and overall condition.
Think their is a massive difference between a bright clean bee and a "dirty" one. Sane with spiders and other combos.

Anything spider will wobble to a degree, but its really not a negative thing what so ever. They eat, breed and live happy lives like the champs they are.

not going to beat a dead horse but all spiders do wobble. My killer bee wobbles only when it is feeding time, but he still has a snippers accuracy when it comes to grabbing is rats.

    The degrees of wobble:

showing almost nothing but a slight head tilt
    shaking head back and forth
    corkscrewing

We bred two adult bees in 2010/2011 and neither wobble any more than a tiny head tilt, they do not corkscrew or shake their heads.
    Both females produced corkscrewing babies.

All spiders are inflicted with the "wobble" but some take it to the extreme :rolleye2:

They all wobble or show signs, slight head tilt, cant roll back over, corkscrewing, slight headnod... But I've noticed their are few big time breeders (even on youtube) who refuse to admit that they all do. Though yes, to different degrees. My baby isnt that bad, but it is possible for it to get worse as she gets older. Her dad was a bee, and he had it really bad. It might now show as much but they still carry it.

And I'm a not big time breeder (never even bred BPs) that says that not all spiders wobble. I have never once seen even the slightest sign of a head tilt with my spider girl, so I can say from my girl that not all spiders wobble. I am not saying that she won't ever produce any offspring that could wobble or even corkscrew, I'm just saying that my girl doesn't wobble.

I won't buy a spider or any animal with a wobble, I'm only one so it may not affect sales much but just wanted to let you know that others may feel the same way.

I have a bumblebee and a butterbee two snakes that have the spider gene. The only time i see them wobble their heads is when they eat.

Just because you don't notice it, doesn't mean it's not there. I've had a spider male at 1500g for over a year now and I used to swear up and down that he didn't wobble. Now that I have had, interacted with, held, and seen many ball pythons, I can say that 100% he does. It's very very subtle but its there. Your female has wobble. I can say that even with not ever seeing her. Here is a test. Hold your snake by her middle so her tail and head drape over your hand on opposite sides. Watch her try and find back to your hand. Watch her closely. Watch for a little head tilt, loopy head movements, and generally not knowing exactly which way is up. That's wobble. Not all spin and flip all over the place. All spiders wobble. Period. End of story. Finito. Kaput. Some have it way less than others. All have it and its random chance on how much the babies will get.
